Dr Leg O Brick Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 (edited) Thought I'd share this with you. I made this for my own custom Professor X minifigure, as I felt he needed more than a hoverchair. I based the design on my own brief experiences using a wheelchair, I tried to get arm rests and feet rests as well as a sturdy construction mixed in, as well as a real-ish scale so him and other figures don't look "strange" in it or next to it. Anyway, if you'd like photographic instructions, I can provide them. Feedback as always is welcomed! This is how it normally looks (The black studs at the bottom are meant to be caster wheels). With the arm and and feet rests folded out. Without him in it. A top view. A bottom view A side view. A back view Thanks for looking! Edited April 1, 2014 by Dr Leg O Brick Quote
Doom2099 Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 I've always been a fan of Jim Lee's chair, but this is really well done! Thanks for sharing. Quote
jonwil Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Great job, I hope that if LEGO ever does a Professor X in a set, we get the wheelchair version and not the hover chair or other variants as the wheelchair version is the version most classically associated with the character. Quote
Dr Leg O Brick Posted April 2, 2014 Author Posted April 2, 2014 (edited) Thank you all for your kind words! I really appreciate the feedback. I do realise the chair's a bit on the large side, but it's still no bigger than the Jim Lee one in the Lego Marvel video game, or others I've seen around the Internet. I didn't need it, far from it in fact as I now have three Professor X customs (wheelchair, hoverchair, and post cloning X-Men costume), but I thought I'd set myself a challenge, it seemed like fun. I wanted to use different wheels than those I'd seen used to make something unique and different, and I think it turned out alright. I based the chair on two things really, the cover to this pocketbook, for the handle bars and the foot rests: http://ecx.images-am...rQL._SY300_.jpg And the rest from the first X-Men film (that was on TV when I made this, hence the black and grey) If you like, I've got a picture of him next to a minifigure for size comparison. I've got 9-ish superhero MOCs/MODs left to post, so keep an eye out in the coming weeks/months. Edited April 2, 2014 by Dr Leg O Brick Quote
KingPixels Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 I also recently had a go at making a wheelchair for Professor X. My main priority was making sure that when placed next to a regular figure Xavier wouldn't be taller. It's not perfect, since I haven't been able to figure out how to get the wheels to spin, but I'm pretty happy with it. (Wolverine for scale.) Quote
Dr Leg O Brick Posted May 26, 2014 Author Posted May 26, 2014 Impressive! I like the colouring on it, it reminds me of the X-Men 1 wheelchair with the metallic colours. I love the way you've done the wheels and the head rest, very nice use of parts, looks very professional. Nice head as well for the Professor. Thanks everyone for your kind words. I'll edit this topic in about an hour with a comparison between the Professor and Wolverine, much like KingPixels. Quote
ACPin Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Also did one before but the detail made it oversized when put side by side with another minifig. Sometimes you can't have everything. AC Quote
TristanLoganLoki Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 pretty cool, I cant find any good wheels, so Ive gone for a black chair and invisi brick Quote
Dr Leg O Brick Posted May 29, 2014 Author Posted May 29, 2014 Size comparison, bub. Thanks everyone! Nice chair ACPin, I like the way you used one of those newish SNOT bricks to get a robust headrest, and the control panel and smaller weels are great little details. Very clever idea on the wheels as well. Quote
