Nice! Loved seeing these ships speeding through space in the 80's...

What is the secret of such a tapered fuselage..?

Thanks Artifex and B Rick. Check out 2x4's Flickr pics - they show how the tapering is achieved. I included an additional jumper plate on top (between the cockpit and adjacent to his jumper plate) to hold on the other red tile. It's rather squishy unfortunately. Look at the bottom on you will see the inverted wedges - the ends are connected by a 2X1 plate above 1 stud in from the nose end, a 3X1 plate midway along the nose (there is another hidden in the nose making the nose a solid truss) and a 4x1 plate at the cockpit (this is the joint between normal and angled bricks...)
