Albatross Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 (edited) I've been itching to create something from the Star Wars Universe, every time I think of something I'd like to create it seems TLG has already made a set. Having become frustrated I simply disassembled the few non-Star Wars Lego sets I owned to see what I could come up with. All parts were sourced from the following sets: Bad Cop's Pursuit 70802 Batman: Man-Bat Attack 76011 Iron Man: Extremis Sea Port Battle 76006 General Grievous' Wheel Bike (just 2 pieces for engine flaps) Batman: Defend the Batcave 10672 (2 pieces used for cockpit seat) and 2 Mega Blocks Pieces from a giant Halo set for the engines I'm sure it's frowned upon to use "fake" Legos, but I was just trying to get the creative juices flowing, to prove to myself that I could create something. Here's our pilot. The minifig body comes from a collection of Legos my nephew gave me. The head is Aldrich Killian, and the hair is Nightwing's :) Here are the pod engines. You can see the giant cylinder pieces from the Mega Blocks set. Pilot in his pod, with the canopy up. View from the back. Different engine view. I'm not sure what can be used for cables to connect the pod to the engines. Here you can see the interior details of the pod, such as the controls. This is my first post of a creation. My main reason for posting is for encouragement as I begin in this hobby. I hope you are not offended by it, or my post. Edited March 29, 2014 by Albatross Quote
Dapper-D2 Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 I like it! It looks nice and sleek. I would suggest adding some silver or gray pieces to the engines though. I'm looking forward to seeing this one completed. Quote
Only Sinner Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 Good idea for a podracer, I think it's coming along nicely. The MB pieces are OK for a stand-in until you figure out what LEGO pieces you want to use there. Also, if it were mine, I would consider some turbofan blades and/or grille pieces for the intakes, as that could give a nice contrast to color, shape, and texture. You can buy lengths of 3mm penumatic tubing that fits perfectly as control cables. One more thing, the whole assembly would look great on a little stand so everything is kept level and off the ground. It does look really good so far, and I look forward to seeing this MOC completed. DarthTwoShedsJackson Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 Cool idea, and I'm looking forward to see this completed. Do not forget the retractable lightsaber-armed propeller of death on this pod racer! Quote
rollermonkey Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 (edited) Some parts that might substitute for the MB part(s), at least maybe in some combination. I haven't worked with any of these to know how well they'd go together. The middle-sized one probably requires the use of a specific hub, but then all three could go on one axle per engine. http://www.bricklink...Pic.asp?P=32077 (70mm-diameter, available in gray or metallic only, but wow!) http://www.bricklink...Pic.asp?P=47082 (60mm diameter, available in black) http://www.bricklink...Item.asp?P=4266 (4-stud-diameter available in black) Edited April 12, 2014 by rollermonkey Quote
