Phoxtane Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Today I finished sorting just about most of the parts in my collection that are available for use At this point, I still need to sort out things like Power Functions, NXT, and a couple of miscellaneous bins that I haven't touched in a while. They didn't follow any general rules as to what went in them so they didn't fit into my system of sorting at all. These, and the loose parts and sets waiting for disassembly will go into the master miscellaneous bin. I'll sort that out according to the same rules I have been following. I've been at this since late October. I currently have a total of 33,265 parts! I expect this to be higher as I clean up the rest, of course. It feels good to have this done; now I can get started on the ideas I've been saving up for a while now. It's a huge stress-saver as well. Does anybody else have similar stories to tell? Please share them if you do Quote
Boettner Builds Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 I've been SLOWLY sorting my LEGO. I'm trying to sort them into a handful of different drawers, but not go crazy as to seperate different colours. Theway I'm doing it is so that the printed/windows/clear bricks get less scratched and its easier to find the unique/tiny parts. It's acually been pretty fun, finding parts I didn't remember having! 333watch3r Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 I still have 2.5 bins (those underbed storage) of legos to sort, but the system is organized now. So its just putting in time to work on those. I figure It will take me months to finish as I can only sort a few hours a week. Quote

I think those under bed storage bins would be great for storing bulk bricks! Since they are not so deep it would be easier to find different bricks. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Haha, your title amuses me.. don't you realize it is "forever sorting!" But in all seriousness, it really is. I feel like there is always something else to sort and organize. I have the bulk of my collection sorted by color currently with a few random boxes of sets/pieces that I either need to rebuild or finish sorting. Then I have a collection of drawers that utilize other small pieces that I may need in larger quantities instead of digging through my other bins all the time. I plan on organizing it more in the future with separated bins for bricks vs plates. I may one day further separate the pieces too. So far I have small drawers for cheese slopes, 1x1 rounds, 1x1 plates, tiles separated by colors/size, foliage, street light parts, etc. Then bigger bins for some plates and bricks, but I need to go further with that. Indeed it is I don't have that many parts in total, at least not in storage, but I often sort parts if I use a lot of particular parts and can put this and that together and save space.
