SMC Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 (edited) Hi sorry for a whole topic for a little question but can you buy from lego.com (UK) and take it back to store for a refund if needed or do you need to post it back? Edited March 12, 2014 by SMC Quote
samlr Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Hello, the best think would probably be to call them. There after sale service's number is free. I'd be curious to know. Quote
SMC Posted March 13, 2014 Author Posted March 13, 2014 So I called today and if you buy online you cant take it back to a store, seems a little odd to me Quote
kinggregus Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Thanks for having made a follow up. I agree it sounds odd, particularly because all stores belong to the group and are not franchises. Quote
webcrawler2050 Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Probably something to do with the way their refund system works... my view is, maybe if you take it to the store, then maybe the tills are down and maybe it causes problems.. just pulling at straws Quote
Cube1701 Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 The most likely reason is that the stores don't have access to the web store's information (the VIP cards would be on a different system). Quote
Cara Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 I had an item ordered online (but from within the store - they were out of stock) where the associate put a quantity of 2 but I wanted 1. I phoned lego and was told I could take anything ordered online back to the store. So this is what I did (in the US) without problems. Quote
Deathleech Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 In the U.S. you can definitely return any Lego set in store or ship it back, regardless of how you originally purchased it. This is pretty common practice with large retailers that have brick and mortar stores as well as online ones. See Lego's return policy here. Quote
antp Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 I suppose that in Europe as they ship from another country usually, it works differently (e.g. for Belgium it is sent from Germany or Netherlands). Quote
VintageLegoEra Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 YOu know why they refuse, cos there was a shipping cost which they will lose ... Quote
