Ryker_Hill Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Which 2014 marvel sets should I buy? I have the choice of 1 set which is the new Hulk Smash Lab. I could buy that or I could buy 3 sets, the Spider-Trike vs. Electro and Cap. America vs. Hydra and the spidey vs. Doc. Ock truck set. So should I get one set for about $50 or 3 sets for about $52
korpen4444 Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 I would go with option B: You'd get Electro, Spider-man, Cap, Red Skull, Hydra Goon, Doc Ock, and a guard. That's 2 more minifigs. Plus with Spider-Trike you get some nice parts, with Doc Ock Truck Heist you get a nice truck, with Cap vs. Hydra, you get a cool tank! Hope I helped!
ManInATopHat Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 I agree, option two sounds best. Great minifigs and models, good value. Unless you really have your heart set on the Hulk lab... Just go with whatever your gut tells you!
Ryker_Hill Posted March 3, 2014 Author Posted March 3, 2014 Well thanks guys I think I'm gonna go with that to now since I know it's a better deal! I might even do reviews!
eldiano Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 (edited) All of them. Hulk Smash Lab is getting harder to find at stores is that popular. The other ones will always be there. Edited March 3, 2014 by eldiano
Ryker_Hill Posted March 3, 2014 Author Posted March 3, 2014 Well Eldiano, I wish I could but I have only enough money for about $50-55 (not including tax.) I wish I could get them all because they all are great sets. (I don't really like the helicopter one though.) So I guess the Hulk Smash set will have to wait. Plus, I now think that the other three sets have more value than one set.
B-Lister Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 As I am not a Spider Man fan, and generic drivers and guards don't appeal to me the way costumed heroes and villains do (Hydra guys count in the latter), For me, the lab is the better buy. Sure, with the other option, you get more figures, but it really depends on what teams you want to build up.

So for me personally I would grab option b for at least 6 minifigs I don't have. Plus, the Lab could be more Lab-ey. It's just a wall with some stairs to me. The other set(s)' minifigs are cool, you get a lot more, and the Tank and Truck aren't bad. If you are looking at JUST figures, I would still choose option B. Hulk and Falcon are nice, but MODOK looks just plain wrong(Lego you could do better), and Taskmaster is okay, but Thor, why is his mouth open!? Just things like that can put me off about buying a set.
B-Lister Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 (edited) Guards and goons come with city sets. I want named characters! If we must have joker goons, make a five pack with some little set. The Hydra Tank is sweet. Definitely on my short list. If Spidey's your thing, or if quantity of characters outweighs selection, by no means is your solution a bad one. korpen4444 Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 If we must have joker goons, make a five pack with some little set. I say this too, but alas, it is only a pipe dream . Plus, I like official SH guards. I have no DC Cops yet! That's literally the only reason I want the Truck Heist. And the 2012 Joker Goon should have his own Battle Pack, but that's a discussion for another topic.

Modok, taskmaster and falcon are all awesome but are they better than electro, hydra agent, red skull, and classic doc ock? Three great figures and an epic vehicle, vs. 5 figs, and and okay lab. Hmm, plus Electro. Then the only thing to consider is if you have Doc Ock. And if you do are you happy with him.Though if you like both MARVEL and DC, you have one set to replace the Truck Heist. But it's up to you.

Yeah the lab build really sucks...and option 2 has pretty good builds...I'm leaning toward 2
B-Lister Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 I kind of like the Lab, but I admit, the main draw is the figures. But that Hydra tank is hella sweet.
Ryker_Hill Posted March 3, 2014 Author Posted March 3, 2014 (edited) Agreed. All sets have great characters. Even the hydra goon looks cool. I plan on using him as Scorpion if I go with that option. All of these sets would make a great edition to my collection of originals and customs. My only doubt is the lab. It's has cool play features, but it seems kinda small for $50. Also, I was a fan of the comic MODOK but this is just way to weird. Although Falcon, Taskmaster, and the new Thor and Hulk could be amazing, I think I will wait for this set. But, my birthday is coming in April so it wouldn't be that long! Edited March 3, 2014 by Ryker_Hill

Ultron Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 It's based on the Avengers Assemble cartoon. But...he doesn't look anything like that version
korpen4444 Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 But...he doesn't look anything like that version What I said.
Ultron Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 (edited) What I said. I'd say he's definitely based on his comic. He does not look like this. This one is freakin bald! Edited March 3, 2014 by Luna Lovegood
B-Lister Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Yeah, they tend to play things fast and loose sometimes. The Nightwing in the Man Bat set is New 52, but the Batman in the same set is more 90s style.
B-Lister Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 I think the consensus here is option B. Plenty of great sets, and fun figures. Remember, spend $75 and get a free Martian Manhunter!
CorneliusMurdock Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Sorry, but topics like this aren't encouraged or we'd have a forum full of them. I think your question has been answered somewhat anyway.
