SalvoBrick Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Hello! Even if I'm more a MOC builder nowadays, I've started to be an AFOL (back in the days when there wasn't the internet, nor the word AFOL ) collecting town sets, bought in department stores, sometimes with years of distance between them. Other them, there are still some of the sets of my childhood. at least those who survived entirely At age 14 I started to buy sets as a form of collection, in a time when almost anybody in the world cellected Lego sets (I was anticipating the future ) The 675 snack bar was the first set I bought for collection, so it's still in near-mint conditions. This is the first time, after many years, I'm displaying in the collection, due to the move I've had two years ago and lacking of free space. The house is my Christmas gift of 1975, I've rebuilt it today, The bricks are very used, anche the "clutch power" of some of them is very weak, but it's 100% complete and original afterl almost 40 years of heavy play The car with the tow truck is even older, and it's the only survived set of my older vehicles. The worker with the red torso is my first minifigure (even if its legs are not original, they were replaced a few years later). The police sets were the latest city sets I've bought as a toy. The 621 police car has not its original stickers, they were replaced with printed ones. and with the snack bar I started to buy set as a collector... (to be continued...) Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Thanks for sharing 'SalvoBrick', I too had a snack bar in my collection when I was a child......sadly I don't have any of my old Lego......they went about 32 years ago. Quote
jfbat Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Apart from the house I had all these sets as a kid… My old Lego was stored with my parents. But my mom died, my father moved house and somehow I didn't find all that stuff that important at that time. My father said something about throwing it out if I wasn't interested and maybe he really did (I don't blame him), but maybe... Quote
SalvoBrick Posted March 11, 2014 Author Posted March 11, 2014 (edited) A shot of the 80's sets I bougth at the time for collection... always stored in storage boxes and never displayed since now: In 2004 ended my "dark age" so I started to buy second-hand sets on Bricklink: here there are the 80's ones, except for the fire vehicles at the right of the second picture I've bought myself at the time The 90's ones are on the top shelf, bougth on Bricklink too. And finally the two most-desired modulars plus some modern sets, some random MOC and the few collection minifigs I keep on display. There are a few more sets I didn't put on display, maybe I'll do in future. Edited March 11, 2014 by SalvoBrick Quote
