Boettner Builds Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 It's been about 1000 years since I've ordered from Shop @ Home and was wondering if you have to pay sales tax? I saw that you get free shipping on orders over $75.00, but If you have to pay tax, then I'll just go to a LEGO store. Thanks in advance for the answer! Quote
samurai-turtle Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 In the USA it depends in what state you live in, because of real store locations. Quote
Boettner Builds Posted March 2, 2014 Author Posted March 2, 2014 California. So I'm guessing that I'd have to sales tax. I was just wondering because when I order stuff online 9 times out of 10 the box gets to me all smashed I guess I'll just have to make a trip to the nearest LEGO store! Quote
AFOLguy1970 Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 It is true that you would likely need to pay sales tax. However, do not forget to calculate the cost of gas to drive to the Lego Store. Besides that, the store will charge sales tax as well. In my case, unless I am wanting to visit the Pick a Brick bin for a refill, online S@H is cheaper as long as the order is above $75 (again due to gas). Quote
Hrafnblod Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Yeah, unfortunately they're one of the only places I ever order from where sales tax applies (in TX). I normally just wait 'til I'm in Austin for something else and go by the store there, if it's a promo or other Lego store exclusive. Otherwise not worth it. Quote
Boettner Builds Posted March 5, 2014 Author Posted March 5, 2014 I'll be heading home next week and there is a LEGO store not too far off of my route. Looks like i'll be stopping by Quote
Boettner Builds Posted March 6, 2014 Author Posted March 6, 2014 Just ordered from S@H. Sales tax was added. No big deal, really. But now I'm a VIP member Quote
