Solscud007 Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 I have been waiting for this set since i saw the pictures online. This was $19.99 at Target. Only two poly bags All the minifigs are in bag Number 1. The major appeal for me was the Minifigs. HAIL HYDRA!!! haha I was surprised by the H logo on the back of the Hydra Soldier. I never really looked at Captain America in the pictures before getting this set, so I was surprised he was a classic bright blue version rather than the dark blue version from the Avengers. I was also surprised at his shield. It is a bright red rather than the dark red we have previously. I really like his charming smile compared to the stern look on the Avengers version. On to the vehicle. There isnt anything special about Cap's bike. It is not as flashy as his Avengers bike. The tank like Hydra vehicle is neat. It reminds me of something from my 80's GI Joe toys. I would like a few more Hydra soldiers though. Quote
Faefrost Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 I just got this one as well. It's a fun little set. As you said its all about the figs. The Cobra... I mean Hydra tank is decent enough. No flaws to it. My only complaint on the set is the Hydra guy. The yellow printing does not work well over the bright green and comes out looking a little dull and translucent. This is a problem they often have when pad printing a light color onto a bright colored surface. Spider-Man figs are notorious for it. Cap has a few issues with this as well. Mainly the small portion of face. The red skull is great. Quote
TheBrickHitHouse Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Well... Lego have to up their game on these Marvel and DC sets. I'm sure there must be teams at lego that work on different projects - the guys that 'designed' this need to talk to the guys that make the Star Wars sets (who seem to get the whole 'inspiration' bit) Was even printed legs too much effort? I'd expect more from a kinder egg toy... Quote
TheBrickPal Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 (edited) This set looks jam packed with fun, so much that I am actually considering getting it (I was skeptical when the first images came up online). The Captain America minifigure is a step up from the 2012 film design, in my opinion, and accurately depicts his appearance in both the comics and the Avengers Assemble TV series. However, the motorcycle is a downgrade from the 2012 set. Red Skull is pretty cool, but I don't love the Hydra Soldier. The tank is all sorts of win, from the olive bricks to the huge wheels. Nice review! Edited February 28, 2014 by Puffle Pal26 Quote
Csacsa234 Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Thanks for the review I think it's a great little set, but apart from the Hydra tank and Red Skull the other things are not interest me. Cap is not bad but I like the avengers version more and as Faefrost mentioned the painting issue with light colors on bright surface is visible on the shiled not to talk about the Hydra soldier, who is IMO not a big deal. But since tha avengers version of Cap is not available nowadays I seriously thinking about getting this. Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Nice review 'Solscud007', I too brought and built this today......I enjoyed building the tank and those minifigs are the bomb. Though no review is complete without ratings on the parts, design, minifigs, etc.,......so how do you rate it ? Brick On Review On 'Solscud007' ! Quote
korpen4444 Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Nice Review! I'm probably gonna get this set this month. I missed out on Cap the first time, and the Hydra Goon is cool. I'm also liking that Red Skull. I love the build of the Tank, though I'm not sure whether it should be called that. Either way, it's a great set! Quote
B-Lister Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Really like the motorcycle in this set. The one that came with the earlier Cap set just doesn't look like the type The First Avenger would ride. Quote
Ceroknight Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 For a $25 set, I don't think it gets any better! Thanks for the review! Quote
Repeter Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Yeah, I got this set today...it's been awhile since a set came around that made me so excited for work to end. I'll be building this bad boy with a smile on my face tonight. Now...if only I could get my hands on another Hydra agent. Hello? Bricklink? Quote
