xenologer Posted May 5, 2007 Posted May 5, 2007 Scout MoonRover Just a simple rover for personal transport or exploration(probably surveying for space-mining sites). It has two clips on the back to hold minifig accessories. If you prefer your spacemen to have scubatanks, then just remove the seat back. Factory Link Light Transport Truck A flatbed spacetruck used for transporting light cargo. The best part is the working steering, twist the floodlight on top to control. vroom vroom :-D Do you Recognize this one? Its based on one of my favorite old sets; the construction and colors and whatnot have been redone to account for brick availability, but the basic concept is the same. The largest change being that since the big hinge used on the original is not in LDD (and kinda rare nowadays) I had to make a replacement with hole-plates and a technic pin; tried it in real life and it works just as well. Factory Link They're both fairly well priced for what they are (a little higher than a production set, but the details make up a little); so have a look, might be cool to have some standard vehicles for your moonbases. P.S. are there any numbers on how many people buy Other people's LDD creations? I buy plenty of my own, and think it'd be cool if others enjoyed them as well. But addmiteddly I've never purchased someone else's... Quote
snefroe Posted May 5, 2007 Posted May 5, 2007 those are pretty cool! i like them :-) they still have the old style , but with modern bricks *sweet* Quote
Jipay Posted May 5, 2007 Posted May 5, 2007 I especially like the seat of the first one. Neat idea. As sne said, they have the old feeling but with new bricks. Any plans for bigger sets in the future ? Quote
Asuka Posted May 5, 2007 Posted May 5, 2007 Beautiful, especially the one with that working steering! *wub* Quote
xenologer Posted May 7, 2007 Author Posted May 7, 2007 Awh, thanks :-D you guys are too kind! I'm not sure I'd really want to make anything overly large in LDD, for two reasons: First of all from a purely creative standpoint... its very hard to imagine something in LDD vs in your hands, and this limits the size of what I can do comfortably. (tho occasionally in real life i'll wish i had an undo or clone button) Secondly, LDD is a bit expensive when it comes to bulk standard bricks(many would be needed for a large model); but its OK for special bricks and small models where perhaps a clever design might make the price easier to swallow. And cost matters since I tend to LDD when theres nothing great on the shelves to purchase... So rather than make a whole MoonBase in LDD, I'd probably have a tendancy to build only the accessories and support vehicles. To be assembled in real life when the mail arrives. Quote
