Im a brickmaster. Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 If a interpirsing member of Eurobricks, like me self!, wanted to pick up one of the legend beasts for those fancy new mini ball joints, which one is the the best or has the most parts value? I'm looking to build mechs and what not, so what say you all?!! Quote
Ridge Montante Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 I just got the 70126 Crocodile Legend Beast. I like to build castle MOCs. I found the green pieces to be useful for forest or swamp scenes. Not sure if this is helpful, but someone might find it useful. Quote
Lyichir Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 It depends on what you're interested in specifically. The Lion and Wolf Legend Beasts have the largest number of the new joints. But the Eagle is the only one that has all four varieties of them. Quote
The_Skirrid Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 (edited) Rebrickable and Brickset have the full inventories, Bricklink have four of them, check them out! PS: I got them all for the new joints, mostly, but the eagle and lion haven't been dismantled yet, they look very good. Edited February 27, 2014 by The_Skirrid Quote
Aanchir Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 (edited) I picked the Wolf as my first Legend Beast both for parts and the quality of the finished model. It and the lion each have 18 of the new joint pieces. The wolf also is primarily in neutral colors like white and grey, which might be useful for a wider variety of MOCs than some of the other, more colorful beasts. Of course, the Crocodile Legend Beast has the highest overall piece count (the Lion Legend Beast has the second-most), and the Eagle Legend Beast might have the most useful printed eye pieces. EDIT: My count on the Wolf and Lion Legend Beasts was off. Each of them has 18 of the new joints, not 14. Meaning that they're a better source of the new joints dollar-for-dollar than any of the Mixels sets currently available. Edited March 17, 2014 by Aanchir Quote
B Rick Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 I love these sets! I became interested in the parts, especially the small baljoints. Indeed: perfect for posable mecha. But when I bought the lion and the gorilla I immediately fell in love with the overall designs. They are really well executed, and highly posable. Really impressive for relatively cheap sets... I just left off the stickers, and for now I made em look like 'real' animals. So, no seating for minifigs. They were pretty cheap around here so I've picked up a bunch of them. Less than 8 euro's each and when you bought two you got the 2nd one 50% off! (all of the available Lego-sets by the way) For mecha-parts... For a functional fully posably mecha-skelleton I'd buy two or three sets. But why not start with the gorilla... It comes with a built-in humanoid shape. Quote
Cara Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 I picked up the lion just to try these out, my store had some damaged box ones 10% off - only a dollar but wont say no. I definitely have to hope that bricklink starts to have large quantities in stock. I like to make creatures and I'm loving them. Quote
Bricktimus Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 I thought that the wolf was the best value build wise as it has a lot of white parts which can be used in other builds Quote
Aanchir Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 I thought that the wolf was the best value build wise as it has a lot of white parts which can be used in other builds Same here. That's part of why I chose it over the lion for my first purchase. It's also a mighty attractive model in its own right! Quote
B Rick Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 At the moment the Lion is being sold for 6,95 euros at Kruidvat overhere in the Netherlands. Just sayin' Quote
Flobnomdob Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 The wolf seems to be the best, with a lot of the joints and plenty of teeth. Best value for parts, though, is probably any of the Mixels. Quote
Aanchir Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 The wolf seems to be the best, with a lot of the joints and plenty of teeth. Best value for parts, though, is probably any of the Mixels. Depends. If it's the joints you're after, the Wolf and Lion have more than you can get for any two of the currently-released Mixels (there is only one Mixel this year, Hoogi, who contains ten joint pieces, and every other Mixel has eight or fewer). The Mixels will generally get you more building elements per dollar, particularly since they don't contain minifigures and so are effectively all building elements. But of course, which parts you're seeking will have a big impact on how useful any particular set is. The Mixels include lots of basic parts in bright primary colors, whereas the Legend Beasts tend to have parts (particularly lots of curved slopes) in more nature-inspired colors. Quote
Jared Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 As everyone says, it depends. I'd recommend the Crocodile if you're looking for specific types of ball joints, otherwise I'd reccommend getting 2 Eagles to get some varitey. Quote
DuckBricks Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 I'd say the Lion Legend if you want the most ball-joint parts... but the croc is great for lime green Quote
Csacsa234 Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 I just picked up my first legend beast and I chose the Wolf. I already have 3 Mixels (all red) and I have to say that they together not contain as much ball joint pieces as the legend beast. I haven't bought it for the parts but for the looks. And i have to say that the Wolf is the best one, if you want to make mechs (or the Lion). The Eagle is good only because it has the 1x2 plate based joint with joint points on both ends, but it doesn't contain that many joint pieces as the Lion/Wolf. Quote
