If they were to release a Doctor Who set, which Doctor would they use? 10 was the most iconic but I think 11 has replaced him now, and it's complicated further by 12's near arrival.

It may depend upon the project - a CUUSOO project creator might specify that his/her project is for a specific, given Doctor, say. There's a slew of Doctor Who projects on CUUSOO now, and some might have more flexible designs than others, so it would depend upon which one gets to 10k first, and how much freedom TLG chooses to exercise in changing the selected project from its core concept (assuming they do indeed approve one). And of course there's certainly a chance they might eventually do them all, especially if 10k votes are attained by each of multiple projects that are substantially different from one another (most of the projects will undoubtedly consist mainly of a TARDIS exterior and/or interior, plus one or more Doctor minifigures, and it's just a question of which of those gets to 10k votes first, but there can also be projects depicting various other vehicles and locations, that could come with other incarnations of the Doctor).

Incidentally, I'd say the 4th Doctor is probably the most iconic incarnation, actually, although the 10th is undoubtedly more familiar to most newer / younger Whovians.

If they did release a set, by the time it would hit the shops Capaldi would have already appeared as the doctor, so I think they should really include him and Matt Smith so that you can recreate his regeneration.

I'd love to see a Doctor Who LEGO set. Even if it's unlikely, the possibility of it is still exciting. Looking at the current Cuusoo submissions, this one looks like it has the most potential. The set is a decent Cuusoo side while including options for both exterior and interior TARDIS scenes, and the use of 1x2x2 frames with panels creates the look of the TARDIS without any new moulds or large stickers (but quite a few new colours).

The creator also says that he's flexible about what minifigures are included (it's up to LEGO/BBC, even if they want to have 12 and Clara), although I love the way he approached the fourth Doctor's scarf.

It looks like Glenbrickers set will easily be the first to the finish line. 9100 votes in about a week. Making it one of the faster projects to climb the charts.

I'm almost certain that it will get rejected. Not because of licensing issues, but more because it just doesn't look like a great design. I just can't see them accepting it and redesigning it significantly (with permission from the designer - who I'm pretty sure would't care as long as a Doctor Who set gets made) is not something they would want to do.

It's similar to how the first two Zelda sets were rejected. The focus was mainly on the minifigures and props (especially this one, while the second one said that set wasn't important and was a base for the figures). If it was a licensing issue, then they would probably stop sets getting accepted. the third one does look more interesting as a set, but will require at least one new mould.

The accepted Cuusoo projects seem to have had a much clearer idea of what they wanted the set to look like. While it helps that the designer is open to TLG changing things (like choosing the figures), I think this initial presentation is helpful for the review process.

The next review stage begins in early May, and according to their new schedule it should take about four months, so we should have our answer in September.

I think only the current doctor should be made. Or all 12. The voting is unfairly favoring the current series. Classic fans didn't really even get a chance.

I am so sick of seeing 10 and his dumb blonde sidekick plastered on everything Who, while the first 42 years get ignored.

I doubt that 10 & Rose will be included. If I recall correctly, the designer said that he's open to different characters being used. It will probably be 12 & Clara, maybe with an enemy.

Agreed, though ten is undeniably on up there. Though I'm with you, as a huge fan of William Hartnell (I've even been watching the Loose Cannon reconstructions for the missing ones) it's really sad to see the classics sidelined.

Ten is definitely in Four's ballpark, I won't deny. But Four's got thirty-plus years on Ten.

I just wish people cared enough about Eight, but if they haven't recognized how brilliant he is by now, they ain't gonna.

Oh, I think plenty of people care about Eight. "The Night of the Doctor" seems to have been very much appreciated by pretty much the entire fandom. Really, I think the only reason merchandise (such as any possible LEGO sets) tends to focus on his incarnation so little is the most natural reason of all - his incarnation simply hasn't had much screen time, just the one TV movie from 1996 and the recent short I just mentioned. I do know he's very fondly regarded, though - even many fans who don't care for the actual TV movie that introduced his version still love Paul McGann's Doctor himself.

So... just how long until he appears as a LEGO minifigure, hm? Does anyone feel like starting a betting pool?:laugh:

What is the likely hood that we WON'T get Glenbrickers project?

Don't wanna set my hopes too high..

I think the biggest thing working against it (and many other DW projects) is it really is somewhat similar to what Character Builder just had on the market.

That's true, but it didn't stop them from doing DUPLO Cars sets pretty much immediately after Mega Bloks did their own DUPLO-esque sets for that license.

And just look at how Mega Bloks is immediately making its Spongebob sets after the license acquirement.

The Doctor could also be in the next LEGO Movie, being someone who'd transport the others 'round the various realms.

Eight's my favorite, but unfortunately most of his material is audio.

Another Who fan here. Out of the 2 LEGO Who sets so far that have and will be getting to 10,000 votes on Cuusoo I like the 2nd one much better than the first. The 2nd has more playability and I like the 4th Doctors design that he has shown. Lets hope that the review doesn't just throw it out since it was the second of Doctor Who to get 10,000 votes.

I think both sets look fine. I wish there was a way to properly do the Tardis Doors but hey, you can't win everything. I also wish there was a way to do daleks that don't suck. Daleks NEED their own molds. But again, you can't win everything.

Yeah, it has more actual building to it, guaranteed Cyberman (who far look better)/Weeping Angels/Daleks, two Doctors (one classic, one new) and a better looking TARDIS. Of course, with two projects both getting 10,000 LEGO will have to give in to the demand of LEGO Doctor Who. :)

Oh yes, another thing that is absolutely necessary is the TARDIS doors for the outside model; I can't imagine it being as fun without them.
