Colossus Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 As a frustrated X-Fan, I'm buying The Spidey-trike(gag!) this weekend only for the Electro Minifig. My reasoning is: 1) Electro looks more like Iceman. My 4 year old son even asked why Spidey is fighting Iceman. I realize this Electro is based on the USM and upcoming Spider-Man movie version of him, but seriously... 2) At the rate Lego releases new X-Men minifigs, I'll be using my Social Security checks to feed my Lego fix. Brand new movie coming out; 50th (50th!) Anniversary of the Marvel comics, The Uncanny X-Men; and only one X-Men set is out this year. Sadly, it consists of a lame Sentinel and Blackbird jet that isn't even black. 2 out of the 5 minifigs that are actually X-Men from both X-Men sets combined are rehashes. (Flamin' Deadpool ain't an X-Man, bub) Phew! Feel much better with that off my chest. Here's to The Lego Cuusoo X-Mansion reaching 10k votes and passing the review board! I hope it survives the experience. Quote
rodiziorobs Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 My least favorite would have to be any set from Thor: the Dark World. And the only reason I hate them so much is because they don't exist. ... But as far as sets that do exist, but probably never should have, the IM3 and Spidey-trike ones are definitely a blight on the Super Heroes theme, and only (partially) redeemed by the minifigs. Quote

I actually kinda like the Iron Man 3 sets- the buggy didn't look that great, but had some potential and doesn't look nearly as awkward as the Spider-Trike. The boat is rather well-designed, but has a few minor issues. My son modded his into a submarine! The mansion and Heli are decent too, only the single hinge and protruding pillars really bother me. B-Lister Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Wasn't there supposed to be a Spider Man polybag? Quote
TheBatstan Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Yep, this seems to be the only "review" I can find Quote
B-Lister Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 (edited) Hmm, missed out on the Robin one, because I have two Robins already, but I kind of want his cycle now. Not a huge Spidey fan, but more heroes is always a good thing. Edited March 8, 2014 by B-Lister Quote

B-Lister Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 I have the Batcave and the Fun House. But yeah, I regret not getting the bike. Anybody wanna trade one for Tonto's campfire? ~crickets chirping~ Anyone? Quote

Anybody wanna trade one for Tonto's campfire? ~crickets chirping~ Anyone? I think you should put that in the Buy, Sell and Trade forum. Anyway, I don't think polybags can count as least favourites, since they have a very limited piece count. Edited March 8, 2014 by Godtshep Quote
B-Lister Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 (edited) It was not an actual offer, it was a joke. As for what counts? I say if it's Lego, and Super Heroes, it counts. Personally, I despise the SDCC minifigures as they limit unique characters to a handful of attendees, and sleazy opportunists. There is a Bucky Cap figure that was limited edition for NYTF. He has a unique shield sculpt, and I feel that is unfair to those who buy not only LEGO, but also read the comics, and watch the films. I am certain that the majority of Lego Superheroes fans would love an opportunity to add Green Arrow, Bizarro, Green Lantern, Captain Marvel, Phoenix, Black Costume Spider Man, and the rest to their collections. Samiens Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 I'm a DC completionist (and love the new 52) so I'm totally biased. But doing it with the DC/Marvel split for fairness: DC: probably the funhouse- it feels so 2D and insubstantial and more 'toy-ish' somehow. If I had to drop one DC set it would go. Marvel: Not a big fan of any of this years sets (plus as my love of Marvel isn't too great some of the more obscure characters are meaningless to me (Taskmaster and Falcon) or plain daft looking (MODOK)) but the Iron Man 3 golf cart attack takes the biscuit- not only does it look like nothing in the film but its plain silly. Even worse, as a fan of the movie I own it! Quote
korpen4444 Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 DC: the $12 Man of Steel set. Don't own it. Don't plan to. Marvel: The Lab Smash. Figs are only reason to buy this set. And even some of those(MODOK, Thor with open mouth) aren't worth it. Marvel: Iron Man VS Hobo on a Lawnmower I have to agree. Quote
Ojik Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 I actually like the Iron Man 3 sets, even the Flame lawnmover/golf cart. After building them, I had to admit they are quite nice builds, despite having a little in common with their movie counterparts. Would I prefer proper sets based on some of the many awesome scenes from the film? Sure. But since we got all the important minifigs, even Iron Patriot, I'm fine with them, and as I've said, they are not the bad after all. The boat is very good-looking when seen in person, incredibly sleek with some clever design, the cart is not bad at all and the mansion is the best of the bunch, So, my least favourite sets must be... The Spider-Trike. This is the peak of stupidity of Spider-Man sets. I really want Electro, but I'm not gonna dump about 16 dollars for an awful ridiculous useless vehicle and ugly childish Spider-Man. When I compare this version to the one from 2004, I'm still shaking my head in disbelief. I would expect them to make such a crappy variant back in these times, not today. Oh my god, he's got plain blue pants! When it comes to DC, this is harder. There are many sets I don't really like. The worst is probably Metropolis Showdown, although if you take off the figures, Black Zero Escapes is a really ugly set as well. Quote

And even some of those(MODOK, Thor with open mouth) aren't worth it. I have to agree. I actually like the Lab Smash set. But that is hugely biased, because of the Hulk! The Metropolis showdown is really good. It is a bit pointless, what with both of the figures being available in other sets, but the car and scenery are pretty good. Personally, I despise the SDCC minifigures as they limit unique characters to a handful of attendees, and sleazy opportunists. There is a Bucky Cap figure that was limited edition for NYTF. Ultron Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Marvel: Doc Ock Ambush. Doc Ock is just so ugly in this set. Iron fist is the only draw. DC: Black Zero Escape. Hideously designed set. Lois Lane looks like the Black Widow fig. Also not a fan of the man bat attack. The copter is atrocious. Quote
Freddy Bricker Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Well since the Teen Titans are the only characters who got their designs messed up in the New 52, I don't mind the New 52 based minifigures that pop up in sets. That said I truly do despise the Riddler Chase. I'm not a huge fan of Batman, and the fact that one of only four of this years system sets are taken up by a re-hash of a villain, a re-hash of a vehicle, the same hero that populates each wave, and only one new hero who didn't even get leg printing doesn't make me any happier. I think all of this years DC sets are disappointing, really. Quote

I think all of this years DC sets are disappointing, really. That's sort of biased. In terms of builds, Worst sets(from both themes) are: Spider-Copter(Really LEGO?), Lab Smash(Not a Lab LEGO, MODOK is horrid, WHY IS THOR'S MOUTH OPEN!?), Black Zero Escape(Lois Lane should not have cheekbones, though Zod's awesome!), IM vs the Mandarin Showdown(The IM suit is the only reason to buy this set. The cart has some good pieces though), Spider-Trike(I already have a Spidey fig[which I love], Electro should've been the classic version but whatever, Trike has a poor design), The Batplane(I don't really hate it, but), but I really like the Batcopter actually. I plan on getting it to make my fleet of Bat-Vehicles. 2014 Batmobile and BTB Batman are awesome, no matter how bad you hate the character. Flash without boots. Is there ANY SH fig that has boots? Seriously. Another bad set: Hulk Hellicarrier Breakout(Only good thing is Hulk and Jet). Figures? That's easy: Spider-Trike, Batcopter(Black Batman and Manbat?). the car and scenery are pretty good. You got me there. Quote
TheBatstan Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 There's only been one fig (I think) that had boot printing, correct me if im wrong, and it was Wonder Woman Quote

SoupOrFishOil Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Storm and a few of the SDCC minifigures have boots too (Phoenix, Spider-Man, Spider-Woman, Green Arrow), even though the printing doesn't wrap around their legs like WW's. And if the GL we get is the same design as the flashlight from Toy Fair, he'll have them too. Quote
