In contrast to my last topic, this one is about your LEAST favourite Super Heroes set and why.

Mine would probably be the Spider-Copter, since apart from Power Man and MJ, there isn't a whole lot of appeal (unless you like the Ultimate GG).

As usual, this does not include the old Batman or Spiderman themes, but only the Super Heroes theme from 2012 onwards (or 2011, speaking technically.)

Spider-Trike vs Electro. Ugh. Why does Spidey need a trike anyway? He can swing from buildings, much faster than most vehicles, and a trike has three wheels not four!

I don't really like the Doc Ock Bank Heist set either. It is just way too high off the ground and looks awkward. I wish they'd made it an actual bank rather than yet another vehicle. :damn:

Not sure I can disagree with that-but I may pick up the Spider-Trike just for Electro if I can get it on sale.

Also, the fact Spider-Man now has vehicles defeats the running joke of Peter not even having a driver's licence

Steam-roller

The only thing good about that set is the Damian Wayne, Batgirl and Joker figures.

I personally like the Steam Roller, but the cab is too open.

But I agree about the figures.

Oh, and the Batwing looks awkward in my opinion.

I don't think he needs one. No one is going to pull over spider-man

Iron Man vs The Mandarin Ultimate Showdown, for the stupid little flame thrower golf cart.

Really disliking the New 52 costumes, but that's DCs fault not TLG.

I don't think I have a least favorite Superheroes set.

Iron Man vs The Mandarin Ultimate Showdown, for the stupid little flame thrower golf cart.

That was one of the best parts of the movie, though!

I've got to agree on the Spidey trike, the only appeal is Electro and multiple lightning pieces. Otherwise.... yeah... a trike? Seriosuly? This makes the hover bike look like the Batmobile :hmpf_bad:

The truck heist? I don't know... it comes with some great pieces, is a resonable price, not bad play features, and you get a more classic ('94 animated series classic anyway) looking Doc Ock. I don't find the truck that akward either.

On the DC side... I can't really think of any... I guess I'll go with the Batman vs. Catwoman. It wasn't bad, but it was definitely expensive for what you got...

The Steamroller set seems okay, the minifigs are awesome and the Steamroller itself is a monster......... But then there's the Bat-Plane-thing. It looks atrocious what with the weird colour scheme (especially the cockpit, brown, really?). The play feature doesn't make much sense either and just looks funny. Ill gladly stick with my '12 Batwing, it may be small but it looks a hell if a lot better than....that

The Batcopter always made more sense to me than the plane. He patrols a city, planes are more long range. Helicopters also have the ability to hover. It just seems more logical to me.

Hmmmmm...good question. I'd have to say it's a toss-up among the latest Batcave, the Batman/Joker Batplane/steamroller monstrosity, and Iron Man 3/Mandarin riding lawnmower from hell sets. The Batcave is a repeat set, and as such, should have been an improved set, not a scaled DOWN set. Batplane that uses wings as pincers, and steamroller with lips. 'Nuff said. And really, any Iron Man 3 movie set with the exception of maybe the Malibu mansion. IM3 vehicles include a cigarette boat that was barely in the movie, and The Mandarin's John Deere with a blowtorch attachment. Turns out The Mandarin wasn't even a villain at all, and that makes the set that much lamer .

The Batcave reissue is, in my opinion, a GOOD set, but when you compare it to its predecessor, it just cannot compare.

Unfortunately, I don't have the predecessor to compare it to. So I like it for what it is.

You're right, 'fists. Perhaps I was too harsh in my opinion regarding The 'Cave. I feel that my utter disappointment in the revamped set clouded my judgement. Thus, I assigned such a low value on an otherwise "GOOD set". Unfortunately, I am also without the previous Batcave set. Bricklinking it is an option, but I don't know whether there are any bricks unique to the set that would impede the build.

The Bat vs Bane. The bat is decent, but the blue bricks representing the lights on sucked, and what's worse about this entire set is the Tumbler... it is just completely terrible and the worst batman set known to man.

I agree with eldiano. Both vehicles in the set are pretty crappy renditions of on-screen vehicles that I didn't really care for in the first place. Gordon is okay. But movie versions of Batman and Bane? Yuck. I'm much happier with the classic figures from the Batcave.

On the Marvel side, I'd have to agree that it's the Mandarin's flame-throwing golf cart of death. But I got it for $4, and it was worth it for the Iron Man suit.

Not sure I would agree... The BAT is nice and poseable, and the Batman figure has a very nice back print.

As for the flame throwing golf cart, it has some nice pieces, but the Mandarin figure isn't that great and the car itself is a bit odd.

I think the newer set is better in a few aspects- the old one was <insert that tiresome argument> in some parts (one of the techniques used was two BURPs slapped on top of each other) wheras the newer one uses a good mix of big and small parts.

But overall, the two do not compare.

Steam-roller

The only thing good about that set is the Damian Wayne, Batgirl and Joker figures.

That's kind of par for course, isn't it, with the majority of the Super Heroes theme? Crappy design, great minifigures.

It's unfortunate. I can only think of maybe 1 or 2 mid-quality to stellar super hero models - Arkham Asylum obviously takes the cake; other than that - it's all pretty "meh."

Then, the Spider tricycle came out, and everything else looks like a full-on masterpiece in comparison. The spider trike pretty much had to happen, maybe even strategically so, to inject some enthusiasm into the Super Heroes them (all future models will be judged more generously now because "at least it wasn't bad as that Spider trike!")

For me it's a toss up between The Iron Man 3 Mandarin Ultimate Showdown (flame throwing ride on mower piloted by a homeless dude. Funny how our initial impressions on seeing that fig turned out to be oddly right?) vs the Man of Steel Metropolis Showdown. of the two the Superman set is the most worthless as it has figs that you can get in any of the other sets. But at least the little yellow car is not too horrid and it is loosely something from the movie. if you ignore that fact that they destroyed the entire city in the actual scene. I mean the car is more intact than Metropolis and Smallville combined. Whereas the Iron Man set benefits from having a unique IM armor Heartbreaker, and a slightly different Trevor. But dear god The set is like some weird act of badly hopeful yet highly underwelming fanfiction. It really is a Homeless guy riding a weaponized shopping cart facing off against Iron Man... who is wearing his special heavy artillery suit to meet the challenge. (Hey folks set your calenders for Iron Man 4 Summer 2016. Iron Man dons his Hulkbuster armor to take on the Norwegian Special Olympics Team! It's gonna be epic! Lego sets available for Christmas 2015.)

As far as some of the other newer sets? The Joker Steamroller set isn't that bad. The figs are great and the Steamroller is an inventive and unique build. And oddly creepy to display. The bat plane is however pure garbage. The Spider Trike at least benefits from having one of the years coolers figs. Electro. Otherwise it would be top of the list. The Spider Copter only avoids the list for having that truly adorable (and comic accurate) Mary Jane fig. And that really cool Abomination for the hulk to figh... what?... What do you mean that's not the Abomination?... well who else could it be? A super skrull maybe?... The Green Bloddy Goblin! Are you Megabloking me?!?!?! Well at least the Power Man fig is alright I guess... what do you mean it's NOT Luke Cage!?!?!?!

I don't own Spider-Trike vs. Electro yet, but one can tell that it's an ugly, poorly conceived set just by looking at it. Sadly, I will end up buying it for Electro.
