rexcal Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 Folks, today I hope you people can answer a question I had on my mind for quite a while... Prologue: Perhaps some of you know the board game "Kill Dr. Lucky", it's published and invented by a small independent games label and comes with no pawns in the game. The philosophy of the games' label is not to include dices or pawns, even if they are needed. They say, everyone got a dice and pawns anyway, so they don't produce them and keep the prices low. They have a special edition with pawns, too - but that's not the normal version. So I always play "Kill Dr. Lucky" with LEGO minifigs, which doubles the fun anyway, which you will certainly agree to. They luckily have the perfect size for the board, too. ;-) But i still haven't found the perfect hat for Dr. Lucky himself. He should wear a bowler (or derby). So my question is: Does such a hat exist for LEGO minifigs? At the moment my Dr. Lucky wears a stovepipe hat, but, although a good one, it's still not the best solution. Does the hat I'm looking for exist in the Lego world? Quote
Sir Dillon Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 As far as I know, there isn't a Lego bowler. I think the closest would be this hat: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=3878 ...Which is more of a top hat, but might work ok. Quote
Capn Frank Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 What's a bowler look like? I don't think i've heard of a bowler before. Is that a European word? P Quote
rexcal Posted May 2, 2007 Author Posted May 2, 2007 Yep, thank you, Sir Dillon. That's the one I'm already using now. So, Ambassadors, here's your next mission: Tell TLC to produce minifigs with bowlers! Quote

ellerb Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 Yep, thank you, Sir Dillon. That's the one I'm already using now. So, Ambassadors, here's your next mission: Tell TLC to produce minifigs with bowlers! I was hoping that LEGO would make a green bowler for the Riddler. Unfortunately they gave him hair instead. Bowlers would be great for a variety of historic mocs. I could make a Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson. :) This suggestion will be passed along. Ben Ellermann LEGO Ambassador Quote
Athos Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 Here is a listing of all minifig headgear produced by Lego, so you can look and see what would best fit your need. Quite a handy feature at bricklink. Steve Quote
EXO-CHAMP Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 Since Lego is doing the Eifel Tower and Cafe, maybe they should do a British theme: 2-decker bus, Tower of London? This could include a bowler or two. Maybe even make the Beefeaters guards in mini-fig. Quote
simonwillems Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 Here is a listing of all minifig headgear produced by Lego Hmmm.... "4 Juniors Motorcycle chassis 2 x 8 x 3" interesting headgear.... :-D I would really like some bowlers in my town to make a few classic looking Brit's with black suits and folded umbrella's, some umbrella's would be nice too... :-P Quote
WhiteHexagon Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 what a great idea, bowlers! It would be nice if LEGO did some minifig collector series. 'Collect Them All' tm. Released 1 a month for 3e, you get an individually boxed minifig per country. Or maybe a Mr & Mrs of each country in the world. Would be a nice addition for town builders. :) Peter Quote
Shadows Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 Excellent idea! Then we can have our own custom John Steed and Emma Peel, aka The Avengers. As it stands, Catwoman makes an excellent head and body for Mrs. Peel. Of course, it isn't hard at all to find an appropriate suit for Steed, it's just that bowler and umbrella. We'll just have to keep on hoping. I know that the inclusion of a single bowler would entice me to buy any $250 Big Ben models that LEGO may have in mind *hint* ;-) Quote
alex54 Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 some umbrella's would be nice too... :-P For the umbrella, we have this : Not to bad I think. The "world wide minifigs" serie would be nice, but if TLC will make it, I think that the minifigs will be real skin colored and not yellow... Quote
Wobo Ihi Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 I know how you feel; I would love to see a Lego bowler hat. Once tried to make one out of Super Sculpey for a Magritte-inspired minifig , but it turned out to be most tricky indeed... Mission failed. Quote
Capn Frank Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 This is an example of a bowler: Thank you sir dillon *y* Yeah, it'd definitely be really cool if Lego made bowlers. I've seen them before, i just never knew what they were called X-D P Quote

tin7_creations Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 how's this ? .... http://www.flickr.com/photos/yokomode01/ Do you know where that bowler came from? Is it custom made? Or ordered from and online customizer? Quote
Cardinal Brick Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 It's custom made to qoute yokomode01 "i cut 'Minifig Top Hat' - part - 3878 in half with a scalpel, then i dipped it into wet epoxy resin, let it form a rounded drip as it dried, then painted it....presto! - Bowler Hat. " Which seems a good methyod and maybe not to hard after the first few attempts, though I'd still love and offical one. Quote
