nato8181 Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 Hello everyone I am a Technic fan and am wanting to join a large project, like an opinion from everyone about it, what should I assemble Land Rover Defender 110 or Ford Mustang Shelby GT 500? For both projects I have 70% of the parts, and because it is an investment like to know which of the two projects is more worthwhile in every way. Thank you all! Quote
terenshi Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 (edited) I have both cars, the only thing I can say is the Ford Mustang is much better than the Land Rover. If you build the Land Rover, you may be very disappointed because of the gearbox issue. The gearbox in Land Rover is the 1st Gen. sequential gearbox from Sheepo and there are some problems which cant be fixed(I have tried everything from adding another rubber band, or even to rebuild the whole car again) The gear just will not engaging sometime or even suddenly disengage while driving, so end up you will be getting a car for display only. But for the Mustang, Sheepo redesigns a whole new 3rd Gen. V2 sequential gearbox using servo motor which is much much better and reliable. Edited February 17, 2014 by terenshi Quote
Kumbbl Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 Land Rover Defender 110 Never ever - the GT 500 wins in every way... The landy is too unreliable Quote
Blakbird Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 I find them both to be marvelous, and different in many ways, I don't think you will be disappointed either way. Your decision should probably be based simply on which type of vehicle appeals to you more. The Land Rover has more functions with high/low range transfer case and 2wd/4wd selector. Quote
Energo Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 I think, Shelby is a better variant. Maybe, because I'm a musclecar fan)) Quote
unimog123 Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 I think Sheepo's Land Rover is really cool, but the Mustang is more efficient with it's functions and looks much better. Quote
Lakop Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 Do both. One then the other and let us know. H Quote
Moyalmas Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 The Defender looks more realistic to me... u can allways try to make the engine/power/weight improves yourslef... that's what i'm actually thinking to do: build the Defender and try to improve it myself Go for the Defender Quote
Polo-Freak Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 the answer is realy simple... BOTH Quote
Blakbird Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 I've got both, so I can appreciate that recommendation, but these things cost a mint to build. Choosing one is a sensible thing to do. However this thread has clearly demonstrated that there is no obvious advantage to either. It comes down to personal preference, and only you can answer that. Quote
fan36 Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Can we migrate the new gen of gearbox from Mustang to Defender? I have Defender and got same pain. Do not know how to save it from a 'display' moc. Quote
