Duck Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 (edited) Not quite sure if this should go in this forum or the MOC one... feel free to move as appropriate mods! While on a recent work field-trip to Ecuador, I briefly visited a shopping centre - somewhere in Guayaquil, and found a shop known as the "Block" store. While my colleagues were unimpressed with the display in the window and moved on to a book store, I stayed for a moment and took pictures and video. Sadly, I I had only taken my old mobile phone with me and so the picture quality is shocking but felt it required documenting somehow. I was mightily impressed and it was probably better in real life than comes across here! This video shows all the moving parts, of which there were several! Thought I'd share, as I'm pretty sure most will not have the chance to stumble across this particular shop! Pleased to see pirates are still a theme associated with the Lego brick! ManInATopHat Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 That's awesome! Who knew that such stellar work would come up in such an unexpected place? The moving parts are too cool. The massive figs, massive ship, and the rather plump parrot pirate are all super cool. Quote
Piratedave84 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 That's a wicked cool display; what a great find! It seems like the set selection inside was pretty good. Was it a Lego-only store? Quote
pcvando Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 (edited) Is this a lego store? It has the same yellow floors, and a pick a brick wall... It is a cool display, lucky find! Edited February 10, 2014 by pcvando Quote
Doom2099 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Very nice display indeed! There's some really nice details in there. Quote
Duck Posted February 10, 2014 Author Posted February 10, 2014 (edited) Is this a lego store? It has the same yellow floors, and a pick a brick wall... It is a cool display, lucky find! It also sold Mega Blocks and other similar brands. The logo above the door was of a 2x2 green brick, with the word "Block" across it. I did stick my head through the door but didn't venture in further due to time constraints sadly! It is a bit strange because the pick-a-brick wall looks identical to a lego store one! This is the only reference I can find to it on the internet - http://www.elunivers...ertas-guayaquil Part of the article, according to google translate explains... The store groups the Lego, Mega Blok and Kre-O brand in an area of over 80 m², of which can be found collections that are not available in other stores, said a representative of the store.Block Store belongs to Corporación El Rosado and will have on display several armed units in blocks, as a replica of a pirate ship level. It will also have a table available for the children to play freely. Glad you guys liked it! Edited February 10, 2014 by Duck Quote
pcvando Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 How very interesting… In the words of willy the groundskeeper; "Do you want to get sued?!" It seems identical inside, "Children's building area" "Minifig building stand" "Pick a brick wall" and the yellow floors. I tried finding out more but not much is available. It would have been interesting to see how the prices compare, and in some of the online photos I noticed some out of production sets, including some older ones. Quote
