maxxens Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 I have to say this is quite fugly... I love to read books and there is nothing what hates being open more than a paperback. Honestly I am a bit afraid that the book will lose pages after the third/fourth rebuild. I prefer the six books (which I also got) or even better the book of the Ultimate Falcon, best book ever :) Quote
Timoonn Posted February 11, 2014 Author Posted February 11, 2014 Did this still come in a bag with a piece of card yep Quote
CP5670 Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 I wonder if all 42009 copies going forward will be like this. It's obviously a deliberate change and not a glitch. I definitely like this single booklet better than having numerous smaller booklets. This is how Technic sets once used to be. Quote
davidmull Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Anyone know will this be a good set to keep misb for years to come? I'm not bothered building it yet anyway. Quote
Vee Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 It stay open. Try doing that in the beginning or end of the book... I dislike these thick instruction manuals. They do not stay open. I like the usual soft blue paper manuals. Also thick books have a tendency to be difficult to see whatever is printed in the inside edges because of the folding of the pages. Quote
Vee Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 Pic pls. Well, if you put a ton of pressure in the pages, they will stay open... Quote

Blakbird Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 The original version of the 10030 had one giant instruction booklet with this same kind of "perfect binding". It is true that it does not stay open perfectly on the table. Later versions of the set as well as the Death Star II came with spiral bound manuals. These were awesome. Ideal ability to stay open flat. I'm sure they cost more though..... Quote
Vee Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Spiral, that would solve the problem and would be a great solution. Also, pages in spiral don't have the tendency of falling apart like thick books, if the pages in the thick books are only glued, like this one may be (I can't tell from the pic). Quote

I have building instructions for 21104 (Mars Curiosity rover) which has glued pages and at the time I was finishing building the model back cover just "unglued" :( Quote
Foggy Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Hi, a couple of days ago received my 42009 from amazon.it, that's italy, and got the same big book. Noticed that the box has the same languages as yours so maybe this is the common point to have a single book. I say again that the book stays open even in 1st instruction page that's number 8. Overall pages are 428! Quote
