Hi,

does anybody know if it is possible to drive the old 9v motors (e.g. from the bar code truck 8479) by the PowerFunctions IR elements? i.e. conacting a IR-receiver to the motor, e.g. via adapter cable PF-Old9v (there is such a cable right?)

Thanks in advance

It is certainly possible. It only get tricky if you need to power the IR receivers with the OLD battery packs. You need to do the Aluminum foil trick (its easy).

Yes, it's possible. I'm using one on my latest project; however, due to the contacts on the bottoms of micro motors and 2838 motors, you'll have to use electrical contact plates.

Actually its worth noting that ALL PF extension cables are converters. One of the two ends has a standard 9V bottom rather than the PF connection. Its quite usefull.

You can also route a 9V connection through a PF battery box without any batteries, which takes up space but is a "pure" Lego solution. I often use this to run PF stuff from the wall, since the PF system has no native AC sources like 9V did.

Or if you have any of the old 9V extension cords (and the inventory for 8479 shows it contains several), those can connect to micro motors and 2838 motors.
