Vee Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 PAB is down here in the US. Is this just some maintenance problem? Quote
Brandon Miller Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 http://shop.lego.com/en-US/Pick-A-Brick-ByTheme Working just fine for me Quote
tkatt Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 I noticed yesterday they have added some new elements and a few bricks in new colors, maybe it was down for maintenance when you were trying it. Quote
KringlesBricks Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 I just went there, and it's back up. If they did add new pieces, anyone know what they are? I guess I can always go piece by piece... Quote
Vee Posted January 29, 2014 Author Posted January 29, 2014 Weird, very weird. It is not working here yet. In Chrome and IE, I can browse the selection but can't add to the cart (bag). In Firefox, I can't even browse. I think Lego blacklisted my IP address... Quote

Vee Posted January 29, 2014 Author Posted January 29, 2014 Did you hit your yearly quota?! haha - joking I DID but not at PAB, at BL! I have spent too much money in BL. As for PAB, I go there often to check the "official retail prices" of some pieces, since my memory is too old to memorize them. Try visiting the site thru a proxy. Good idea. I have VPN, I will try some "countries" and see what happens. Some months ago, youtube was really bad, slow, failing, etc., but when I connected to it via VPN, no problems. Go figure... USA alternate not working, France not working, Chile not working. I think I have some problems with my computer, will try a reboot. Weird... Quote
Vee Posted January 29, 2014 Author Posted January 29, 2014 Well, problem solved! I mean, not solved, but narrowed down. It is my computer, something is wrong with it regarding specifically the PAB page. Tested with Chrome, IE, Firefox, Opera (PAB page crashed Opera!), none work. Then, I tested using one of my virtual machines that runs WinXP and it is working. The page loads, only the bag has problems. I don't know what is wrong. I have cleaned temp files from browsers, flash is working properly, cookies are allowed, it always worked but now it does not, out of the blue. Well, at least I can't blame Lego this time... Quote

The masonry profile bricks are in there now. 1x2 and 1x4 in Dark blue and Dark Green.1x6 in olive green. Also 1x2's in the new light yellow. There's more but those are the ones that stuck out to me. AFOLguy1970 Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 After checking for new pieces, there are a few. Unfortunately, it appears the prices have gone up. For example, clear 1x2x2 window glass panes were .10. Now they are .20. 1x2x2 corner bricks were .20 and now have gone up to .30. Seats were .15 and are now .20. Door frames, cabinets, cabinet doors are all up. It also seems like the selection of minifigure parts, particularly the torsos has actually decreased. Guess Bricklink will be used a bit more in the coming days. Quote
KringlesBricks Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Sounds like good news and bad news. Thats nice to see them add the masonry bricks to the PaB; but, disappointing to see almost every brick went up by $.05 to $.10. :( It may seem like my PaB days via the Shop@Home is over, and relying more on BL and the PaB walls at the Lego Stores Quote
Vee Posted January 30, 2014 Author Posted January 30, 2014 It is a smart way to stop providing the service without actually stopping it: just raise the prices to absurd levels and only desperate or highly uninformed people will end up using it. I guess Lego got so used to the high profit margins that the sets give them that they can't accept very well a service that has probably low profit margins but pleases the fans the most. So, the solution, just keep raising the prices. But BL can also be a trap. There are so supposedly high volume big stores there that have prices so high that I just can't understand how they are high volume, how they can survive. Are there so many fools in this world? Quote
Vee Posted January 30, 2014 Author Posted January 30, 2014 I found the problem. It was my flashblocker extension. Although it was set to not block anything from lego websites and it always worked correctly, I guess some automatic update changed something and, even set to not block Lego, it was causing the PAB to not work. I disabled it and PAB started working fine. Quote
