lipcsey Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 (edited) Hello there, I'm wondering, has anyone experienced problems with the RC module's remote controller itself? I got mine (used one) not so long ago, worked well on the very first day, now after about 1-1.5 week it just doesn't work. - Channels are the same on the rc module and the remote controller - I got 2 rc modules to test with, neither works, so I'm assuming it can only be the remote controller that's faulty. (but used to work the first time) - The 9v battery is about 2weeks old, and it's charged - The 6 1.5v batteries in the unit are charged as well. - Got a couple replacement aerials, but they should be fine. From close range it would work without them anyway. No idea what could be wrong, tried replacing the batteries, but no change. Anyone knows if it has probable week points, that are likely to reveal themselves after a while? or something to look for to fix? Thanks in advance! Edited January 28, 2014 by lipcsey Quote
DrJB Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Are you talking about the power functions remote, the EV3, the one in the RC cars, or something else? Quote
lipcsey Posted January 29, 2014 Author Posted January 29, 2014 The one in RC cars, so basically the remote controller of eg.: supersonic rc / rc race buggy Quote
Hrafn Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 (edited) Is there any chance it got wet? Edited January 29, 2014 by Hrafn Quote
lipcsey Posted January 29, 2014 Author Posted January 29, 2014 Is there any chance it got wet? No, not really, only used it indoors, for a few test spins, worked just well, it was sitting on the shelf the entire time then. There is something else I noticed but not sure if it was just coincidence or not, it seem to have picked up random signals when I was putting the 9v battery in the controller, but I was having a conversation on phone at the same time, without phone it never happened again. DrJB Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 The car battery tends to discharge rapidly. If that is the case, then the car won't respond to the RC's commands. Try re-charging the battery and see what happens. Quote

Yeah, suspected that as well, but made sure it's charged, so that's not it :S Why I think it's not the car battery is, I have 2 rc units, and none of them responds (both have their batteries charged) Quote
lipcsey Posted February 4, 2014 Author Posted February 4, 2014 I don't think it'd be helpful to anyone anymore, but I thought I'd share, just in case: I still don't know whats wrong with the remote control, but I got my brand new one shipped today, aaaaaaand, it's working as a charm, both modules respond properly, with all 4 rc buggy engines, producing a staggering amount of lego-scale torque :P So, that's about it. Tamas Juhasz Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 My controller's left additional lever doesn't worked, it was some contact failure. I took it apart, and I put some material under the critical point, so it works again. Sometimes the old rc system can get wrong, it's not so reliable. It depends a lot on usage. How much was your rc controller used? Quote
sunnykoomos Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 I did experienced this problem, but they are PF IR remote. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kGymBN283Bs&list=UUZP7UwSKY08Yxt0LIe7xR0A&feature=c4-overview Quote
Tamas Juhasz Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 (edited) You should call the costumer service, they will send a new one to replace the wrong devices. I get more than one PF thing during the last few years this way, I had also some problem with some component (AAA battery box, PF switch). I also made video(s) to proove my problems, but they didn't requested them. Edited February 5, 2014 by Mbmc Quote

How much was your rc controller used? I'm not exactly sure as to how much it was used, bought it off of ebay, grabbed a bargain, a used supersonic RC in a good condition, according to the description and judging from the parts it shouldn't have been used too much, + there are no signs of serious wearings. Well, who knows, I was probably unlucky, I tried taking the remote control apart, but one screw is stuck so hard it was impossible to remove. Quote
