AlmightyArjen Posted February 23, 2014 Author Posted February 23, 2014 Still doubting about that one: I ordered also trans-red parts :) Quote
ronenson Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 The real thing looks much better than the ldd drawings. I especially like how the dark transblue comes across. Quote
Jorrith Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 I totally forgot to comment on tweakers.net, it looks real neat so far! (FiXeL here... ) Oh, and when it's done... No need to say a video is mandatory... Quote
AlmightyArjen Posted February 24, 2014 Author Posted February 24, 2014 (edited) Yes, I really like the contrast of the trans dark blue (that isn't available in LDD) and the white bricks too... When It's finished there will be a video with the monorail and some other space sets! Looking forward shooting it! One little problem: the little cars between the cars contain 4 wheels each side and because of that it cannot make curve. I can remove two wheels but that looks a bit weird so I need to come up with something for this... Edited February 24, 2014 by AlmightyArjen Quote
zephyr1934 Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 One little problem: the little cars between the cars contain 4 wheels each side and because of that it cannot make curve. I can remove two wheels but that looks a bit weird so I need to come up with something for this... How about removing the wheels but keeping the wheel holder, like on the tender of this MOC? Quote
AlmightyArjen Posted February 26, 2014 Author Posted February 26, 2014 That could be an idea; I'll need to have a look at that how it looks! Quote
AlmightyArjen Posted February 27, 2014 Author Posted February 27, 2014 De body of the train has been finished! Coupling between the cars: Next challenge: opening the doors with a remote control using pneumatics Quote
AlmightyArjen Posted February 28, 2014 Author Posted February 28, 2014 (edited) I've built in the pneumatics but I'm not sure about the result. It's a bit "full"... First car: airtank and pump. I tried a compressor but it wasn't strong enough to open the doors within. 10 seconds: it took around 30 seconds. With the air in the tank, I can open and close the doors twice. The second car contains the motor, lineair actuator and valve. The third car contains the IR receiver and battery. Edited February 28, 2014 by AlmightyArjen Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Nice project! I like your technique! Quote
AlmightyArjen Posted March 2, 2014 Author Posted March 2, 2014 Thanks! Now busy with designing a track. I think I'll put some white plates on it and some bridges with radar dishes... anyone some other nice suggestions? Quote
AlmightyArjen Posted March 6, 2014 Author Posted March 6, 2014 I guess the track will be something like this. I ordered a lot of 2x4 and 1x2 plates: I think it looks pretty nice! I'll shoot a video when I have time, with all my space sets :) Quote
dr_spock Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 This is coming along very nicely. I like the whiten tracks. Looks good with the train. Quote
zephyr1934 Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 It is neat to see the train with the monorail Quote
AlmightyArjen Posted March 26, 2014 Author Posted March 26, 2014 (edited) It has been a while but I had finally some time to make a nice video, enjoy! http://youtu.be/KGjhLVtR3KY Edited March 26, 2014 by AlmightyArjen Quote
dr_spock Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Good work, very enjoyable video. Did you have a chase car with the camera? How is that setup? Quote
AlmightyArjen Posted March 27, 2014 Author Posted March 27, 2014 Yes an extra wagon was attached to the back of the train with a beam of about 10 studs. On that wagon I had installed a turntable with an Action Cam and a motor. Behind that there was another car with the battery box and the IR receiver. In that way I could turn the camera around while the train was riding :) Quote
woofmcmoose Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Very Cool! Nice train, and lots of awesome sets for scenery. I particularly liked the deep freeze defender flyby! Quote
splatman Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 What's up with a new page with a 404 error opening up every time I click on the video (when starting, closing the ad, pausing, etc)? Browser: Firefox 28. OS: Windows XP SP3. Quote
ScotNick Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 I don't usually tend to prefer futuristic stuff, but this train really gets me. It's a really neat design! Quote
AlmightyArjen Posted April 25, 2014 Author Posted April 25, 2014 Thanks for the compliments! For those interested, I've made an additional video, since I had made about 30 minutes of video material Quote
