TheBatstan Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 Hey guys, this probably wont be the last time that I'm going to work on this but until then, i present to you the 76012 Batmobile v1! 76012 Batmobile by LegoAO2365, on Flickr Starting off, the biggest difference is the cockpit, as I've replaced the distracting orange to a more subtle colour. 76012 Batmobile back by LegoAO2365, on Flickr The back area took me the longest to fix. I removed the flick system and replaced all the random mish-mash of red and black with solid black. I also removed the vents at the top and made it smooth and put the signature engine with taillights, the final change is that i added a black 3x2 Inverted Slope to the bottom because i felt the back lifts up way to loosely and though you cant see it, no matter how hard you try unless you use force, you cant lift it. The final area is the cockpit. I swapped out the weird yellow and grey palette to black and changed the steering. The steering went through two versions, and i want your opinions as to which looks better, Steering A 76012 Batmobile cockpit v2 by LegoAO2365, on Flickr or B 76012 Batmobile cockpit by LegoAO2365, on Flickr These two are only temporary until i get my hands on the Technic set Black Champion Racer and change the tires to black and give the cockpit a pilots yoke piece, and replacing the light gray sides with black Thanks for viewing and remember to comment with suggestions! Dayton Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 It funny how in the review of this set i said that i was going to do a modification to the set very similar too this. Great job! Quote
Bricktimus Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 Great mod! Looking forward to seeing once its completed! Quote
Brickadiergerard Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 (edited) This is a really great mod. I was wondering if there was a good Batmobile hiding under those garish colours, and you've shown that with a colour change and some clever mods there is! It makes for an impressive hyper modern-looking and suitably menacing vehicle. It'll look even better once you swap those gold hubs on the wheels for black or dark grey. What's the piece you used to make the engine? I ask, because thanks to seeing what you've done I might end up trying to pick one up and mod it. Oh, and I prefer cockpit A as it happens. Could you add a couple of printed tiles to be instrument panels along the side of the cockpit itself? Edited January 26, 2014 by Brickadiergerard Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 Nice design changes there 'batmobileAO', I too feel cockpit A is better......though using black hose nozzles instead of old school antennas for the steering mechanicals might look better. Bat-Brick On 'batmobileAO' ! Quote
TheBatstan Posted January 26, 2014 Author Posted January 26, 2014 Wow. Thanks everyone for your suggestions keep em coming!, ill be sure to add them in! For those who were wondering what I used for the engine, I used this http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=48169 found in The Bat set Quote

For those who were wondering what I used for the engine, I used this http://www.bricklink...tem.asp?P=48169 found in The Bat set Thanks for that link - very helpful! My loyalty to my similarly colour-modified 7781 is now being tested. As long as you don't want the minifigures, you can already pick this Batmobile (and sometimes the dragster too) up on BL for a really good price. Gnnnh, It's. So. Tempting. Now. Quote
TheBatstan Posted January 26, 2014 Author Posted January 26, 2014 No problem. I also modded the 6864 Batmobile to make a Arkham Asylum game version http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=87521#entry1773608 Quote
