*Vent* Why Do I Bother posting at Classic-Space?

Yeah, classic-space forums...

Sure, there's interesting MOCs being posted all the time.

But the atmosphere is very....how do i put this ?elietist?looking-down-on-others?confrontational?

Posting there has a tendency more often than not to make my blood pressure go up when some jerk replies.

In contrast, you guys here at eurobricks are great fun.

So I have to ask myself... maybe I shouldn't even bother.

Whats the point in a conversation that only ends badly?

Does stating my inputs on a MOC really do anything good for me, or for the person who listens; that outweighs the backlash that so often appears?

I'm starting to think, No its not worth it.

Maybe the place is worthwhile to observe interesting constructions; but its not a nice place to talk.

Maybe to resist the temptation, I should just close my account there...

Anyhow, to separate this post from being a totally useless Vent and into something Worthwhile for all of you:

Feel free to express, your thoughts on Why the atmosphere here is so much nicer; and how things came to be that way. Maybe we'll learn something insiteful about how communities work, and how to avoid pitfalls...

Well as TT said not so long ago, we really shouldn't go around bashing other sites. Not only isn't it nice, but it isn't in the EB spirit you mentioned in the post! I have noticed the same things you mentioned, but you have to admit, it is the best place to go to talk about your Space creations.

I'm still waiting for a suggestion about how to attack the bubble cockpit, xeno :-P

Rather than closing this, though, I think I'll leave it open as long as everyone follows what you said at the end of your post. Rather than making this a thread to bash another site, how about we make this site a place to discuss what we like about EB?

Sure, people react a bit more aggressive some times, but usually that's in extremely weird topics, when some one, who's completely unknown in the lego community, starts a topic about the end of the world, ufo abductions,... topics, thank god, we never get here... :-)

I think yoda wants us to have a cozy atmosephere here whether we like it or not :-D

joking aside, on MOCs that're made by ppl w/ limited bricks or skill, ppl seem to add a compliment and then suggest improvements to other parts of their MOC.

Personally, if i can't find anything good to say about a MOC and all I have are "suggestive improvements", then i don't usually post in that thread.

also, the mods and admin don't mind if ppl go off topic for a few posts.

And when the off topic is starting to get a little carried away, a mod or admin ask that the topic be put back on track.

Though I imagine that people who are new at making MOCs like to get a little pat on the back, a "good try, keep up the good work" sort of thing. These comments add to the cosy atmosphere, making the new people (yes, including me) feel more comfortable here.

There are two negatives in the segment, making it positive thus: "It's nice" or something of that sort. 'It isn't nice'. But most likely 4J ment 'Not only that it's no nice, but...'.

Am I right or wrong?

To the thread, errr. I wouldn't have much to say, but it's best to be kind to all sites, but if you find it unsuitable, leave, don't let it come up and bother you again and again.
