efferman Posted April 15, 2014 Author Posted April 15, 2014 (edited) a few new things a portal hub for a 8to 12 gear combination. it fits in the 62,4x20 rim a track link for stable mounting on liftarms. a button for my german forum Edited April 15, 2014 by efferman Quote
JGW3000 Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 That 8/12 portal axle could be really useful. How about this part, but with 5, 7, or 9 pinholes instead of one? Longer versions will be very useful for cross-bracing. Quote
allanp Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 (edited) I've been following this thread with a lot of interest. Although I don't have much faith in 3d printed parts I would love to see you model these parts as I'm sure you would do a much better job of it than me . Edited April 15, 2014 by allanp Quote
efferman Posted April 15, 2014 Author Posted April 15, 2014 The gears are possible, how much teeth have the clutch gears? Quote
allanp Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 (edited) The clutch gears have 16, 18, 20, 22 and 24 teeth. The picture shows 2 gears with 24 teeth as one is for first gear and the other is for reverse. Feel free to alter/improve on these designs, the diff case in particular could look better. timslegos Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 I dont know if it is possible, but I would love a smaller and more compact diff. tim Quote
weavil Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 As soon as I can I will order that portal hub for 62,4. Might be another month, but it looks perfect! Quote
efferman Posted April 16, 2014 Author Posted April 16, 2014 the 24 tooth clutch gear is done you have had an idea for an more compact clutch. can you explain how this should work? Quote
allanp Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Very nice work . Oh I forgot to mention, to use the full set of clutch gears it would be very helpful to have a 10t and 14t standard or double bevel gear. Quote
efferman Posted April 16, 2014 Author Posted April 16, 2014 ok, but first a 20 tooth non bevel clutch gear and the link to the 24 tooth clutch gear Quote
allanp Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Fantastic. i wonder if shapeways has an option for a slightly flexible plastic for the leaf springs. Quote
jovel Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Why did you make that 20 tooth clutch gear non bevel? A bevel version would be far more usable ( at least for me ). Quote
efferman Posted April 16, 2014 Author Posted April 16, 2014 (edited) jovel, because bevel gears are extremely complex to replicate and i think there is a use for non bevel gears in a gearbox edit i have a concept for a high torque diff with 4 12 tooth bevel gears as planet gears and two 20 tooth bevel gears as sun gears. high torque diff demonstration von efferman auf Flickr the center part holds the gears and one of the outer parts is part of the 36 tooth double bevel gear which drives the diff. the hole diff is 3 studs wide Edited April 16, 2014 by efferman Quote
efferman Posted April 16, 2014 Author Posted April 16, 2014 4 studs, the diff will later fit in the 5x7 frame Quote
efferman Posted April 17, 2014 Author Posted April 17, 2014 the unimog rims are arrived. altough the walls are very thin they are stable enough. and the 8110 tires dont slip on them. pinholes need a 4,8mm drill and the axlehole need some polishing. the standard racing wheel medium looks with the wheel cover like the specialized rim 100_1136 von efferman auf Flickr 100_1135 von efferman auf Flickr 100_1137 von efferman auf Flickr Quote
Pat-Ard Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 Hi effe, those look great!!! How's the surface? Pat Quote
efferman Posted April 17, 2014 Author Posted April 17, 2014 its like sandpaper and should be the same like your U406 wheelcovers Quote
efferman Posted April 17, 2014 Author Posted April 17, 2014 a short side by side with the 42000 steering hub in the unimog rim and racing wheel medium. the unimog rim is to deep for the lego portal hub 100_1141 von efferman auf Flickr Quote
