Sorry for my English skill. :sweet:

Every time when I build a car, it is difficult for me to make A pillar. Car's pillar must be rigid and sturdy in real life. There are some ways known to Technic builders.

Wikipedia Pillar (automobile)

For example,

1. Combination of axles and flexible ones. (set 8070)

2. Toggle joint. (set 9398) This causes weak construction, I think.

3. Angle connectors with pin connectors.

This is my latest creation.

Recently I was very impressed by Victor Kojenov's Arctic Explorer. Simple, and no gaps on the roof!

Is there anything new solution to the issue of both shape and rigidity?

Your creation looks good.

Yes, I don't know that you'll be able to make it any better with Technic parts - A-pillars are tough. You might be able to use some of the Mixels / Chima Legend Beast ball joint sockets, or maybe System hinges (especially click hinges that connect to Technic axles), but yours is probably about as good as is possible.

Thanks for your opinions.

In most cases, toggle joint parts are connected by small non-friction pin. That connection is weak. Chima/Bionicle female ball joint is 2 stud wide and too thick for Technic car pillar or roof. Some hinge parts seem to be better solution. But they are not common in Technic sets...

Especially this one.

Have you checked out the ball joint sockets in the Mixels 2014 sets? Not sure if they have been released already.

Here's a picture: http://toysnbricks.c...te-1024x619.jpg

P.S.: Madoca, I'm a HUGE fan of your MOCs. They are very, very well designed. You should consider putting them on Rebrickable, so that they get more exposure, and people can easily see if they have all the parts required.

Thank you, jantjeuh.

Is it necessary to make LDD/LDraw files for Rebrickable? I'm not good at CAD files and some parts are not available in LDD.

No, that's not necessary at all. All you need is a parts list (many formats are supported), and a link to the instructions (in any form, your photo instructions will do fine).

I will try Rebrickable! Please give me a few days. (or weeks, maybe...)

Good topic! I too wonder about that and will be tackling it soon as well.

If I'm honest, I think this is tricky to get good looks and strength, probably only thu connectors is that possible at medium scale mocs.

Looking forward to seeing you mocs on rebrickable!

these new mixel parts look amazing! I'm thinking suspension if they fit nicely in the existing ball sockets we have.

The first thing I thought of when I saw the Mixels ball joints was suspension; however, they probably won't work for small models as they have far too much friction (they're more oriented towards poseable figures, mini mecha, etc.).

Those are the hinge parts I was thinking of. They're not common in Technic, no, but they're cheap on BrickLink. As long as you're working in black or gray, they're useful.

The ball joints I was thinking of are the Mixels ones, as mentioned by others; those are only 1 stud wide.

Suspension link with ball joint can put A-pillar in any angle. I like your idea! But I can use the link 9L, 6L, or new 5L steering arm... :sceptic:

Wait, if I use the new steering arm as a part of hood or roof, I can connect any size of liftarms combined with towball pin(6628).
