Boxerlego Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Simple fast fun tank power by one Upgraded XL motor. Quote
legomuppet9 Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 *nerd on* Technically speaking this is not a tank, but rater a tracked vehicle....*nerd off* But nice model none the less and the XL motor works very well Quote
Boxerlego Posted January 22, 2014 Author Posted January 22, 2014 Thanks, I see what your saying. It does make a great tracked vehicle if I were to put some wheels on the front. Then I would be able to have a form of steering for this. Quote
Gee Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 I think you'll need a differential between the tracks for it to work with wheeled steering, otherwise the tracks will just push the steered wheels in a straight line - especially in a vehicle this light and powerful. Quote
Boxerlego Posted January 23, 2014 Author Posted January 23, 2014 Thanks Gee, But I not going to use a differential. I'm going to use two motors to power the tracks. One motor for each track side. I did some several comparison test with the Regular XL motor against the upgraded XL motor. Both motors are able to power the tracks well at a 1:1 gear ratio but the when there is a overdrive ratio you can certainly see the difference in speed performance between the two motors. Quote
Lakop Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 (edited) I wonder if you might need some weight at the front for that steering. I remember seeing a model similar to what you are doing, tracked rear with wheeled steering, but the front steering wheels were not very effective. Keep us upto date. H PS: Nice tracked vehicle by the way. Edited January 23, 2014 by Horace T Quote
Boxerlego Posted January 24, 2014 Author Posted January 24, 2014 Thanks! I added some more tracks to it. I will put up some more picture of this later. Quote
