kr-lik Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 So... While playing SWTOR, I noticed this huge & awesome ship and was looking for info about it and basically why this hasn't been made in LEGO yet. I found two cuusoo project about it but neither of them were anything I liked to be honest so I decided to start my own project... so far so good... This is 3 days work in LDD... As you can see I'm no expert MOC'er nor I'm an expert in design whatsoever but I'll try my best at it... At the moment as you can see it's basically a skelleton of the front & middle part of the ship with some ideas about how to make the sides more "shippy"... you can also see the hangar entries at the middle & sides... will keep on posting updates if you guys are interested ;] Quote
Nom Carver Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Looks good so far! is it a star cruiser like vehicle? are you planning to do it in real bricks? Quote
DonBrizzel Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 I actually like this vessel. Good luck building it!! Quote
TWP Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 It looks really nice so far! I am curious if the rest will turn out just as great. Of course you should keep us updated! Quote
Swan Dutchman Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Looks good so far! is it a star cruiser like vehicle? are you planning to do it in real bricks? The Harrower Class is more like a Star Destroyer as can be seen in the picture below. It's a very cool looking ship indeed. Looking forward to see you building kr-lik! You have a good idea how to make it already. Maybe you can check the forums for more building ideas... many people have build all sorts of Star Destroyers in the past. Good luck! Quote
kr-lik Posted January 21, 2014 Author Posted January 21, 2014 cheers guys. i own the old ISD and the ISSD and will be borrowing some of the techinques from those sets tbh. So far had big problem with the hinges heh heh but looking around the internet I finally managed to figure it out a bit. Unfortunatelly it's been quite difficoult to work with in LDD. Looks good so far! is it a star cruiser like vehicle? are you planning to do it in real bricks? If I'm happy with the LDD result and it ain't like 5000 bricks then yeah! Quote
Nom Carver Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 LDD will do especially if you have some outstanding rendering program, and seeing at the source pic I can say is a very cool ship! good luck building it. Quote
Fuppylodders Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Oh, this looks like it could be really good! Never seen this ship until you have mentioned it and I really like the look of it. Not too sure, as I am only looking at googled images.... but Im wondering if your current nose section needs to be more pointed/longer? Or that it is just too wide at the base of the triangle sections? Quote
Brickdoctor Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Oh, hey, I hadn't known about this ship before — it looks a lot like the Gladiator-class that I remember so well from watching Droids as a kid. I look forward to seeing your progress. Quote
kr-lik Posted January 21, 2014 Author Posted January 21, 2014 (edited) [...] but Im wondering if your current nose section needs to be more pointed/longer? Or that it is just too wide at the base of the triangle sections? the nose section will be pointed after I put the "top" armour. this right now i just the skeleton that will hold it all together :) Oh, hey, I hadn't known about this ship before — it looks a lot like the Gladiator-class that I remember so well from watching Droids as a kid. I look forward to seeing your progress. now that you mention it... it kinda does... Droids ? I think I missed something... Edited January 21, 2014 by kr-lik Quote
Brickdoctor Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Droids ? I think I missed something... Star Wars: Droids: The Adventures of R2-D2 and C-3PO. Very borderline canon, but I saw bits of them on VHS and then a lot of them after the '04 compilation DVD release of Episodes 5-8 and 10-13. That was one of my first exposures to the EU. Quote
kr-lik Posted January 21, 2014 Author Posted January 21, 2014 thanks... will check it out after I finish the dreaded CW :o Quote
Kelso Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Looking good so far, can't wait to see more :) Quote
kr-lik Posted January 22, 2014 Author Posted January 22, 2014 here's a small update... around 700 pieces atm... probably quite a lot is not really needed heh: problem with this ship is that I don't think I've seen the back of it, hence I've no idea what kind of engines does it have ;d yet I do have a question to you guys.. how can I repair such angle problems? it makes me go nuts because I can't seem to snap two bricks with each other as there's a problem aligning them: Quote

I have fond memories of watching 'Droids' in the 80's :) 'Ewoks' however was another story.... ;) Quote
Mr Man Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 (edited) problem with this ship is that I don't think I've seen the back of it, hence I've no idea what kind of engines does it have ;d Here is a fan made model of it here, you can switch it to 3D mode and swivel it around. And here is Warb_Nulls model. He makes mod ships for Empire at War they are very accurate to the source game so this is probably your best bet unless you can actually get some images from Old Republic. kr-lik Posted January 22, 2014 Author Posted January 22, 2014 (edited) nice find! thanks!! I also just realised that I can try and find some references in the SWTOR videos on youtube... like: anyone on the LDD "align" issue? :\ Edited January 22, 2014 by kr-lik Quote
thrakkazz Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 hi, I love the ship but i think the design is not correct. All 3 edges are about the same size on your MOC. The one supporting the engine should be mch shorter so the overall shape looks like more an arrow head than this my 2 cents Quote
kr-lik Posted January 22, 2014 Author Posted January 22, 2014 hey. thanks for your input. which one of the edges do you mean ? the "wings" or the "last one" ? Quote
Csacsa234 Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 That ship is so spectacular, It's good to see that you make a MOC from it. It looks good hope to see it finished very soon, i'm a sucker for TOR Quote
khatmorg Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Here is a fan made model of it here, you can switch it to 3D mode and swivel it around. The engines aren't right on that one though. They're 2 triangle like shapes that cover the entire "diamond", split in the middle. Anywho, looking forward to your progress! I've always wanted to do one myself but I don't have the budget for it atm. I can't wrap my head around building in LDD unfortunately, it just feels really clumsy and unnatural. Quote

I guess that's an evolving issue as you can see on the youtube video I posed, those dreadnaughts had 6 round engines there lol :] ... I guess I'll make a few versions ? ... Edited January 22, 2014 by Brickdoctor Please don't quote images. Quote
khatmorg Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Myea the in-game model seems to be a bit different, looks alot more barren compared to the video version. The video version seems to have a lot more turbolasers (huge ones) and are differently placed. Definitely looks better than the plain look of the in-game model though, always thought the engines looked off. Quote
Mr Man Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 (edited) They could be two versions of it. A lot of the ingame ships have minor cosmetic differences. Also there is reference to a Javelin Class Dreadnaught which is a modified Harrower. Edited January 22, 2014 by Mr Man Quote
kr-lik Posted January 22, 2014 Author Posted January 22, 2014 well yeah there's Javelin, Eclipse, Dominator, Oppressor, White Nova and Tyrant ships that are "Harrower class" on wookieepedia. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Harrower-class_dreadnoughts oh well... I'll try to make ONE at least ;) Firstly I need to cover the skelleton with flat gray plates to see how the shape of it really looks (as to see the issue that thrakkazz pointed out) ... Quote
