Hi All. Im in Australia and these Photos of sign below is from a friends collection

and we are debating about it's origin and what promo it was used for

and the year...Can anyone shine some "light " on this for me please, thanks.

It is a small light sign with pink LED along top with LEGO etched into

the perspex and lights up like a neon sign.

Apparently is was used in a Harvey Norman Store

Hi, welcome to EB. The store that your friend got this from probably had this custom made as I don't think it is an official Lego product. It doesn't have the copyright mark and I have never seen it before. They probably used it to highlight the Lego section of their store or something. But I could be wrong.

Neat sign though.

Also, this probably should have been posted in the General Discussion or Community forum.

Thanks for the reply. Yes i think you are correct about being custom, probably for Harvey norman Stores. appreciate the feedback, and any other clues. Cheers

That looks familiar. I've seen many similar looking "neon" signs on eBay of various designs carved into plexi with the light source on top. eBay #141049548531 for example, check second picture.

It's custom made and is only for cool factor but not worth anything for collector's market. I wonder if LEGO knows someone was selling custom NEON signs of LEGO logo without their permission or licensing?

Yes same thing as on that ebay listing... you're right it has no markings of manafacturer, however

I beleive these were not sold as a consumer item, only display, and I believe Harvey Norman are a licensed seller.

yeah tis cool, not sure he would sell it anyway.

I would swear I have seen some similar signs in stores in the US. It's obviously not of Lego manufacture, but it might be something commissioned by a regional marketing group as part of their provided store displays. I doubt if the store or store chain would have something like that made on their own. That sort of thing is almost always paid for by the vendor. The fact that it is an edge lit LED sign means its of fairly recent vintage.

Somewhere I have a couple of teeny tiny edge lit signs for neon in model railroad layouts. They look fantastic. I've kind of wished Lego would play a little bit with the simple tech involved. It would certainly give new life to oft maligned panels.
