greenmtvince Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 (edited) So I'm thinking of trading my 4 year old Asus Republic of Gamers laptop in for a shiny new tablet. I'm sticking with a windows platform for office integration and to continue using some of my legacy statistical software packages (STATA 11 & SPSS.) I'm not a gamer anymore so the only graphics heavy application I'd use would be LDD. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for tablets running windows 8 pro that also handled LDD reasonably well.Edit: Strongly considering the Surface Pro since the price is way down following the release of the surface pro 2. Classicsmiley Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 What's your budget? There are a wide variety of very good Windows 8 Pro tablets out there, with different form factors and accessories to suit your needs. Since LDD isn't fully touch-compatible by itself right now, you'll need to plan on either finding a software utility to map touch gestures to keyboard keys, or get a tablet that can incorporate accessories. From a performance standpoint, the Surface Pro 2 tablets would probably be good. the 64 and 128GB versions have 4GB of RAM, and the 256 and 512GB versions have 8GB of RAM. They all support Microsoft's Type keyboards, which in my experience are pretty decent. They can be hooked to external accessories and monitors via USB3 and DisplayPort. Lenovo also has some laptop/tablet convertible units that look pretty decent. Quote
