badbob001 Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 I just bought some unicorn horns for the newer horse helmets and they don't go in flush. I don't see another variant of the unicorn horn so I'm not sure if better fitting horns exist. Unless my horns are fakes. Quote
Hive Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Yeah I came to the same discover a few days ago, to my big dissapointment. There's nothing wrong with your horns, they simply do not fit. Why, I do not understand. Quote
BrickG Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Easy enough to shave down that part with sandpaper if you don't mind them not being 100% pure anymore. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 They changed the entire horse mold, so the helmets had to be molded differently too. I guess when they did that they either didn't take into account existing pieces OR they never intended those pieces to fit into it and will possibly come out with new unicorn horns in the future. It is also possible the new mold doesn't have the room to accommodate the length of the horn? I don't know why TLG does the things they do, but that is disappointing they don't fit. I had never tried since I don't own any of the new horse helmets/barding. Quote
dooberfloober Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 It's to facilitate the horn's removal. glad to help Quote
Hrafnblod Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 It's to facilitate the horn's removal. glad to help That sounds pretty plausible. Some of my old helmets are a huge pain to get the horns pried out of. Quote
Aanchir Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 I don't think the slight gap looks too bothersome, considering that the unicorn horns are just decorative ornamentation anyhow. Quote

To me, the gap is both rather large and rather bothersome - to the point where I simply don't find it a suitable match. Quote
Front Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 The new helmet looks to have a standard hollow stud. No shaft on any part is short enough to fit perfectly down a hollow stud. Erland, Part Design Quote
Freddy Bricker Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Where are these horns from? I thought Unikitty was the first to introduce that mold, maybe I was kidding myself. So long as I can attack wings to my horses, I'm fine, though I can see the problem and hopefully Lego can create a better horn and/or helmet to fix this. Quote

I think it first showed up in either Kingdoms or Atlantis. Unikitty was the first time seeing it in that color. Prior to that it only came in silver or gold I think? Quote

Fantasy Castle had them, if I recall correctly. Edit: My mistake, they were introduced with Kingdoms/Atlantis. The Fantasy-era castle sets had similar horse helms but with clips instead of a hollow stud that a horn goes in. Edited January 16, 2014 by Hrafnblod Quote
