ACPin Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 Now on display at the Lego store until mid-April at the Jersey Gardens Mall. Back & Interior pics added. Forgot to mention that pics are also available in color and black&white. The colonial town hall was the focal point of the community where all of the town's residents could discuss local issues, conduct religious worship, and engage in town business. Since it was going to take a lot more time to set the scene for the interior shots, the exterior shots will do for now. AC Preliminary pics have been taken. Second floor done. First floor exterior done. Haven't done a city/town MOC in a long time and here's an impulse build last night to try out if it will work. Anybody else tried this technique before? AC Quote
Wodanis Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 Can't say I've seen that technique before. I like the texture. Quote
eurotrash Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 I don't think I've seen it before - looks good. Quote
branolego Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 I think ive seen it done on an old windmill before, but it looks great here as well. Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 I the siding look indeed, though so many 1x2 cheese pieces....$$$$ adds up......but it's worth it, looks fantastic. Brick On 'AC Pin' ! Quote
The Jersey Brick Guy Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 I don't think those are 1x2 cheese pieces, they look like 1x2 tiles. How did you make this? Quote
eurotrash Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 i'm guessing a series of overlapping 2 x n plates with a lot of 1 x 2 tiles. Quote
ScotNick Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 I have seen that building technique for rolling stock, but not for houses, nice idea! Quote
tomdobs55 Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 (edited) Guy by the name of jaystepher on YouTube has done that technique for siding on a garage. This is his page Edited January 13, 2014 by tomdobs55 Quote
jodawill Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 Definitely not cheese wedges (although that would definitely be easier than this). It looks to me like he's using a hinge on each row, but I could be wrong. Quote
Doom2099 Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 That is a great technique, and would look really natural as siding on a house. If those are hinges on each row, that's pretty intense. I hope we learn more! Quote
ER0L Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 There are buildings with that technique, e.g. this one. That's a victorian house designed by fbmodels. Quote
ACPin Posted January 13, 2014 Author Posted January 13, 2014 i'm guessing a series of overlapping 2 x n plates with a lot of 1 x 2 tiles. That's correct. Guy by the name of jayatepher on YouTube has done that technique for siding on a garage. Does it have windows in between the walls? There are buildings with that technique, e.g. this one. That's a victorian house designed by fbmodels. Looking at the photostream, it looks like the same technique except for the window placement. AC PS. Just added another pic of the first floor. Quote
tomdobs55 Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Does it have windows in between the walls? Yes he does. I'm not trying to discredit you at all, just offering another point of view, yours looks great. Quote
ACPin Posted January 13, 2014 Author Posted January 13, 2014 Yes he does. I'm not trying to discredit you at all, just offering another point of view, yours looks great. I'm definitely sure my solution is different from his. AC Quote
tomdobs55 Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Yes yours is definitely different my apology. I love your work and I didn't realize yours wasn't cheese slopes. Looks great as always AC. Quote
ACPin Posted January 15, 2014 Author Posted January 15, 2014 Yes yours is definitely different my apology. I love your work and I didn't realize yours wasn't cheese slopes. Looks great as always AC. Don't sweat on it and if you actually just look up front they look quite similar. Only when you look at an angle that the difference shows. AC PS. Second floor done, added pics for exterior and interior. Quote
Kristel Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 This is a really nice effect on the walls! I also like how you have done the roof. Quote
ACPin Posted February 8, 2014 Author Posted February 8, 2014 This is a really nice effect on the walls! I also like how you have done the roof. The walls really got this MOC started and good thing I bought a large cup of the 2x2 LBG tiles. AC Quote
greg3 Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Nice! I especially like the wood effect texture on the walls, very effective! Quote
ACPin Posted February 12, 2014 Author Posted February 12, 2014 Now you can view it in color, well it was before but you had to click on the pics to get to them. AC Quote
ACPin Posted February 18, 2014 Author Posted February 18, 2014 The backside and interior pics have been added. AC Quote
tyuiop_3 Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Nice house and photos! I like this wonderful building Quote
