Nachapon Lego Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 (edited) This templates are auto-generated. Just found a way to batch apply all 1500+ decors at once. Only three cells of MS Excel with functions, then copy cells to as many bricks as you want. This method can be use as batch minifig generator as well (with different decors/colors/parts...). Even use as auto mirror build generator, maybe (auto change mirror parts for save building time). I will share the files soon. Can be replace with any kind of brick at once. Use as UserPalettes. Nachapon Lego Posted January 9, 2014 Author Posted January 9, 2014 (edited) Very cool, I'd like to see what benefits it will bring! Thanks! - It save a lot of time making a decor template. I am working on organizing decors in excel for filter/sorting them. - It can batch replace strings in lxfml. Working on how to use this method to combine huge ldd models that LDD can not handle, then go render directly. OLDNUT Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 Very interesting. Batch process from Excel to LXFML. Have you posted the files/process yet? If so where, if not it is understood that there is not enough time in a day. Quote
Nachapon Lego Posted March 16, 2014 Author Posted March 16, 2014 (edited) Very interesting. Batch process from Excel to LXFML. Have you posted the files/process yet? If so where, if not it is understood that there is not enough time in a day. I found that it is not nacessary to excel-generate every decor-able bricks to make templates. Just use the first one as universal template. Simply use wordpad to replace-all part id to any other decor-able bricks you want and use it as userpalettes. They work well weather the lxf/lxfml can be open correctly in LDD or not. Please refer ot this post: http://www.eurobrick...50#entry1841282 Capture by Nachapon S., on Flickr The generate process is semi-auto. This method should be also use for batch generate light source for LDD2Povray. Cell A1-B6(group) for 1st Brick Functions for Cell A1-A3: =" <Brick refID="""&B1-1&""" designID=""3626"" itemNos=""4187301"">" =" <Part refID="""&B1-1&""" designID=""3626"" materials=""24,0,0,0"" decoration="""&VLOOKUP(B1,$D$1:$E$1509,2)&""">" =" <Bone refID="""&B1-1&""" transformation=""1,0,0,0,1,0,0,0,1,"&-0.4+B1*1.2&",0,.4"">" Column D is numbers in order. Column E is decor code list. I saw someone share the text file list but I can't find it today. Replace-all designID to change parts . Change the value of 1.2 in cell A3 to change distance between parts. (unit cm) then drag copy A1-B6 to A7-B12 for 2nd brick ... (repete) Excel will auto fill correct Brick refID/decor code/transformation. Last number in colum B represent quantity of bricks to be generated. Copy cell A1-A? to replace the same section of any one brick only lxfml file then open it in LDD. AD noassbody by Nachapon S., on Flickr Edited March 16, 2014 by bbqqq Quote
