Faefrost Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 (edited) OK, I now have seen a PR with my own eyes. the part count is a scam. It's a good modular, but sadly I have the impression the designers have started 'cutting corners' or 'trimming size' to reduce the modular. it looks like only 70% of a modular building. fantastic facade, great detail and quality, but im sad about a couple of issues, but the biggest for me is the the second floor is quite shallow, easily a third less floor space. the all round size of the modular is a smaller building, it seems that they wanted to make the smallest building possible that could sit next to other modulars. there is a difference in quantity... 2400+ part count, but i bet a substantial amount of these parts are no bigger than 1x3 plates... the PS for example is only around 2000 parts, but im sure most of those parts are larger bricks. the part count for PR is masked with lots of tiny pieces... if you had an unfurnished PR i'd bet it would struggle to hit 2000 parts It's within the same basic size range and overall foot print as the Pet Shop. The only area that loses a little space is the top most floor. But that seems to be more a styling and shaping thing that an attempt to reduce size. I like that they made a portion of it open air. With some extra minifigs seated around it looks more alive than the others. Edited January 16, 2014 by Faefrost Quote
kibosh Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Let me preface my thoughts with these facts: 1) I have built the Cafe Corner, Grand Emporium, Fire Brigade, and Pet Shop. 2) I own, but have yet to build, the Green Grocer and the Town Hall. 3) I will eventually get the Palace Cinema and the Parisian Restaurant. When judging the modular line, I feel you must look at the whole line. These 8 buildings are very different from one to the next. As has been pointed out, some have little interior detail, and others are well fleshed out. Some feel small, and some feel huge. Look at any street in any city around the world. There can be huge variances in scale. This is part of what makes this line so brilliant and beautiful. You get a little of everything. As for the interiors, the ones that do have interior detail simply inspire me to further develop te ones that don't. This line has been an absolute homerun for me. I honestly don't know what I would suggest they do to make it better. Quote
