This is one of my latest and most advanced walkers i

have started building.

And the first one that can steer, but i

just have to find out how the best way to do it ?? :cry_sad:

What shall i use ? LA ? steering rack ? or a third method of steering ?

Here are some pictures.

I have also planned to give it some sort of suspension so that it can walk on uneven terrain.

Ideas are welcome to solve the steering. :sweet:

Walkers are great! This looks really interesting. I'd love to see a video of it in action.

Have you considered steering it the way articulated haulers are steered? That is, put a u-joint in the drive shaft and build a ball joint around it (possibly using these parts 92910.jpg 92911.jpg). The walker would then be steered by pivoting the two halves of the body relative to each other at that joint; you could drive that pivot using linear actuators. It would also give you some suspension, since the front and rear pairs of legs could twist relative to one another.

thanks Hrafn.

Yes i could use that. But its more like a 4 wheel steering i am gonna use for my walker.

If you look closer at the steering metod you can see it.

But how can i make a precision steering ??? La ??

And yes i will use some sort of suspension..

Yes a video will come at some time.

Well it only got only one M motor for walking if you look carefully.

and it have to use only one more for the steering, thats what i have planned.

and yes i have planned to use PF remote. ;)

Yes, I see it has only one at present. If you use two, it would replicate how a person walks (to turn left, just move your right leg and keep the left leg still) - same as steering a tracked vehicle (e.g. bulldozer)

I have no ideas about steering a walker. I made a six legged bug a while ago and it seemed to steer itself towards the left. I look forward to seeing your steering solution in action. It will be a learning opportunity.

I've always wanted to build this walker. The chances of me reproducing it are nil.....

Yes i would like to make that one as well.

But i think i ist to complicated for me.

The drive system is via two worm gears almost like a trial truck width out diffs .

one for each pair of legs.
