SandMirror38 Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 If you have not hear'd Youtube is cracking down HEAPS on copyright... So after spending 5 months making stop-motion animation I can not upload my video because I use sword sounds from programs, and soundtrack or someone talking. So if you upload a video now on youtube and the smallest bit possible isn't made by yourself..BAM.. Gone! A friend of mine makes game videos. He "let's play"s them and he's pretty funny and now his entire channel is gone. This is ridiculous. Quote
jonwil Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 Don't blame YouTube, blame the greedy media companies that own the copyright to all this stuff, they are the ones that are issuing take-down notices and getting Google to remove the content (and to add that content to their database so any further copies get removed) Quote
SandMirror38 Posted January 1, 2014 Author Posted January 1, 2014 But Youtube is just using companies names without their full permission to do so in their name Quote
Sebeus I Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 (edited) I know, It's frustrating, I've been trying to compose the Davy Jones music from Pirates of the caribbean myself to use on my Flying Dutchman video but It's not going so well . I tried to use the original soundtrack first but like you said, it was removed. But you're saying also sound effects are considered for deleting a video? that's monstrous, they are vital to a stop-motion . Edited January 1, 2014 by Sebeus I Quote
Legofin2012 Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 You could always not give credit to the originals, and there's no way YouTube can prove it's the original, if you say you made it yourself. Quote
Andy D Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 (edited) If you use iMovie, try using sound effects included with iLife, there must be something similar with Windows Movie Maker. Also look on the web for royalty free music and sound effects. Andy D Edited January 1, 2014 by Andy D Quote
Junpei Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 I agree. So many good AMV's with the soundtrack removed or just plain deleted. :cry_sad: Quote
TheOrcKing Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 (edited) Here's a recent favorite find; the scene from Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade where they must choose the right chalice. Instead of taking down the whole clip, Youtube just muted the audio and stated this. This video previously contained a copyrighted audio track. Due to a claim by a copyright holder, the audio track has been muted. ....So let me get this straight, the soundtrack is copyrighted but the video is not? Edited January 3, 2014 by TheOrcKing Quote
