DonBrizzel Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Hello everyone. My name is DJ, and I live in Maryland, US. I have loved legos and Star Wars my whole life, but could NEVER afford the sets that I desired. I only recently discovered the LDD and have been having a blast making legos with it. I then discovered that Lego has been doing mini Star Wars legos, and have been for quite some time, I don't know why I've never seen them until recently. I started doing research on them, but didn't like them. So I really wanted to do my own mini MOCs for the X-wing and Y-wing because I hated the ones that Lego put out, especially the Y-wing, yuck. I searched all over the internet, taking ideas from a lot of people's mini-mocs (including Prater Yed), combining them, and adding my own touches, to make an X-wing and Y-wing that I can say that I would be proud to build and display. Here they are! Now, on to my question. When I do the BOM for these sets, and go to Lego.com, I come up short on a ton of pieces. Is there a website or a store out there that I can do a one stop shop for all of the bricks that I would need to complete these sets? Thank you all for reading! -DJ Quote
donbarca Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 bricklinck.com if you know the part numbers it is going to be much easier to search through the site btw.... cool little moc like the y-wing in particular! and welcome to eurobricks Quote
Lobot Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Hi DJ, and welcome to Eurobricks! I'd second the advice to use Bricklink, I've used it extensively in the last couple of years and haven't had any problems. Just have a look around and try to buy from sellers that are based in your country, otherwise the shipping can get rather expensive! Oh, and it's LEGO......never with an 'S' Quote
DonBrizzel Posted December 30, 2013 Author Posted December 30, 2013 Thanks for the advice guys. I will check out Bricklink right now! And I will remember. It's Lego. Got it! Quote
DonBrizzel Posted December 30, 2013 Author Posted December 30, 2013 Okay, I went through Bricklink and bought what I could. There were still 13 pieces that I need that Brinklink did not have. Anyone have any other suggestions? Quote
DarthTwoShedsJackson Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 (edited) First of all: Welcome (I'm quite new here, too), and I really like your micro MOCs! I'd love to see them built with real bricks. Speaking of which: If you have the part numbers, just enter those in google - there's a lot of shops besides Bricklink (which always is a good first resort) who sell parts which are rare or out of production. That's how I found some parts (the cockpit canopy in a specific transparent colour for example) for my re-build of Psiaki's X-Wing, which I didn't find with Bricklink sellers here in Germany or Europe - I didn't want to get them from overseas for reasons already stated in this thread. So I found some online shops here in Germany who had them. Edited December 30, 2013 by DarthTwoShedsJackson Quote
DonBrizzel Posted December 31, 2013 Author Posted December 31, 2013 Thanks guys! I have found and ordered all of my bricks. Now I play the waiting game! It turns out that some of the part numbers from the LDD were wrong. I had to do some research to get the correct part numbers and was able to order 90% of the parts fron Lego.com. The rest I was able to find on bricklink. I will post pictures again when I build them! Quote
DonBrizzel Posted January 1, 2014 Author Posted January 1, 2014 Updated LDD with the parts that I ordered: Quote
DonBrizzel Posted January 1, 2014 Author Posted January 1, 2014 Okay, this is my final render. I am not messing with it anymore. Going through the LDD some more, I found the perfect guns for the X-wing. I also put the longer engines back on the y-wing, because it just looked better with the longer engines. I am not making any more changes!! (yea right! haha) I ordered the gun pieces for the x-wing, and I am burned out and done with ordering bricks. Here is the final final final products!! (yea right!)
