LEGO Family Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 How many of you know that their might be very little chance that your family and wife / girlfriend will have bought LEGO for you for christmas, even though you have put it on your wish list. And which sets do you hope you will get. And then what did you get ? Add a before / after christmas note and what you wished for and what you got. Also this could be used mathematically to figure out a plan for next years christmas to lure your partner and family into buying you more LEGO. Personally, since ive only been reunited with my LEGO addiction for some 3 years having had a dark age lasting some 25 years. ( which is actually today since i first started to build with my stepson 3 years ago on Christmas day and then i was turned into an addict again.) It was only last christmas that i actually told my parents and sister that my biggest wishes for christmas was LEGO, they kind of laughed at me. It took my girlfriend some 14 days to convince my mom that i honestly meant it. And i ended up with a small giftcard for the copenhagen LEGO store. They seemed to still be sceptic. This year they have been following my addiction and they have seen what im building and is taking it quite serious. Ive been wishing for giftcards and some of the Hobbit sets from the last wave, but mostly giftcard as i explained to them, The LEGO movie sets wont be out till after christmas, and i WANT THEM ALL !!!!! I for sure know that i get a Halloween LEGO minifigure head container, cause we saw it on sale when i was out shopping with my sister. I said WOW thats cheap, im gona buy that. She told me to go get a cup of coffee and not to buy it. Now im just wandering what i will get besides that one, and if i dont get to much LEGO i will have to change my strategy for next year. So, what are you all wishing for? What have all you AFOLs done to make sure you will get it for christmas? And finally what did you get ? Oh, and merry christmas everyone !!! :) Quote
Jody Meyer Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 I know the big jolly guy brought me a new mindset ev3....can't wait... Quote
Tomsche Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 I 'subtly hinted' at Bag's End (An Unexpected Gathering) I think by the weight of the package, she bought me a steel bDSM flogger or something, it is all chinkling and clinging inside I also have suspicions that the set is actually under the tree... for the little one! :cry_sad: Quote
Andy D Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 I subtly hinted also (heck, I put some on my Amazon wishlist). I'm hoping for some Architecture sets. I have been getting a few sets each year since my re-kindling of my LEGO hobby. No to wait and see (I'm not a package shaker) for Chritmas morning. Andy D Quote
TheLazyChicken Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 I know that someone got me the CLS-89 Eradicator Mech. (I still don't know who got me that since I am santa in my family! ) Quote
Vee Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 Here, nobody gives me any Lego so I buy them myself. I have 3 of them underneath the Christmas tree. Quote

SweetiePie88 Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 ive either gotten or know i'll be getting the mountain hut(open and assembled), the series 3 animal polys(got to open 1 early and got the puppy but haven't assembled it yet), and the razcal flier set. Then I have a mystery box in my bag. I asked for thunder wings but not sure what's in the box since it's a box in a box by the sound of it. Quote
TheOrcKing Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 I am hoping to find a complete Galaxy Squad collection under my tree. Hmm, time to check the closet. Quote
Gryphon Ink Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 (edited) My wife always gets me sets for Christmas and birthdays. Hoping for either Helm's Deep or a modular this year, but more likely I will get something a little smaller from LOTR or the Hobbit. Update: I got Dol Guldur Battle! Kumpelkante Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 I only got a lwgo brick coin bank. But i havent got the presents from my girlfirend yet Quote
TheLegoDr Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 (edited) I don't have to hint, my wife and mom both know that is all I care to receive. They just give me a dollar amount and I buy what I want up to that point. The gifts from my mom are too numerous to mention, so pictures will be up later on my Flickr and try to post one here. The lego from my wife will be in the form of LUGBULK, so I won't receive any of that for a while. Happy Christmas all! Edit: I am not sure if I will be getting pictures up after all, so here is my list. Town Hall Jabba's Sail Barge VW Camper Van Sopwith Camel All 4 Hobbit sets BTTF DeLorean Winter Village Market Edited December 26, 2013 by TheLegoDr Quote
SweetiePie88 Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 Mystery box turned out to be set 70701 swarm interceptor. mom got the only blue and white set she saw. It's going back if we find the receipt since I really don't need it. a lot of the parts in the set I already have, either in the same color or different colors. Thunder wings is mostly common parts but it's parts I really could use. Does anyone know if walmart does full refunds on lego post xmas or it is the post holiday prices? Quote

polarscribe Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 (edited) My mom completely surprised me... Under the tree was 850425 Desk Business Card Holder (perfect for my new office!)... Then after all the other gifts were unwrapped, she went back and brought out a giant wrapped box... 10232 Palace Cinema The only currently-available modular I didn't have. SweetiePie88 Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 receipt is AWOL. Guess I'm keeping the set. ugh. Going to try getting TW soon. not sure what to do w/ GSSI though. It's to cool to donate, not something i'd be in a rush to build, not into selling sets, and not an interesting enough parts source to go parts mining compared to what I already have in my collection. I know TW is an immediate build though. Quote
fred67 Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 I bought Palace Cinema for my wife and kids to give me. I have an Amazon wish list, but generally frown on people who know I like LEGO buying me stuff when they don't know what I already have or what I want. I've gotten too many duplicates in the past. Quote
SweetiePie88 Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 Went to walmart. No TW, no clearance items. Got a couple of the new $5 3-in-1 creators to tide me over until I can arrange a lego shop order to get that and a few other sets I'm after Quote
LEGO Family Posted December 27, 2013 Author Posted December 27, 2013 Lovely. A lot of repiles. Thanks everyone !! Here, nobody gives me any Lego so I buy them myself. I have 3 of them underneath the Christmas tree. Haha .... Im buying quite a lot of PAB´s every month, so i wouldnt buy myself a gift though it was tempting But i do like the idea, and more should practice it ! I 'hinted' that I would like the Mirkwood Elf Army set and the Lego Marvel Superheroes game this year. Merry Christmas everyone! First of merry christmas to you too !! So, how did it turn out ? Well, I was mistaken, the munchkin didn't get bags end, but I did get the Wizard Battle yayaayay Awesome !! ive either gotten or know i'll be getting the mountain hut(open and assembled), the series 3 animal polys(got to open 1 early and got the puppy but haven't assembled it yet), and the razcal flier set. Then I have a mystery box in my bag. I asked for thunder wings but not sure what's in the box since it's a box in a box by the sound of it. Your mystery box wasnt that bad at all i read !! My wife always gets me sets for Christmas and birthdays. Hoping for either Helm's Deep or a modular this year, but more likely I will get something a little smaller from LOTR or the Hobbit. Update: I got Dol Guldur Battle! Rattling boxes is bether than non at all !!! And i do like that set. Just so many other sets i would rather have at the moment. I don't have to hint, my wife and mom both know that is all I care to receive. Town Hall Jabba's Sail Barge VW Camper Van Sopwith Camel All 4 Hobbit sets BTTF DeLorean Winter Village Market Thats a family that really makes ones collection of LEGO expand. What a huge amount of sets !!!! My wife & in laws are great when it comes to buying me Lego, this year I got: 10233 Horizon Express 21103 BTTF Delorean 60026 Town Square 10235 Winter Village Market 79109 Colby City Showdown 41041 Turtle's Little Paradise 41042 Tiger's Beautiful Temple 41043 Penguin's Playground 40056 Thanksgiving Feast 40082 Christmas Tree Stand From my own Mother, I got money so spent some of it on: 60006 Police ATV 60000 Fire Motorcycle 41028 Emma's Lifeguard Post 60042 High Speed Police Chase Another great family ! That amount of sets is just insane. Oh my !! I would have loved to get those also I myself got quite amased. I was thinking that i would end up with a few of the Hobbit sets, and my halloween minifig head storage cannister. But they surprised me. I didnt get any hobbit sets. I once told my sister that i usually doesnt assemble sets unless i have two of them. One for show one for my collection. But when i got my LOTR Tower of orthac i just couldnt resist assemble it. So i was that set short. And guess what i got. I also got my Halloween head. And i got a lovely giftcard for the LEGO store in copenhagen. With the card and my spared WIP points, i should be able to get my favorite The LEGO movie sets one of the following day. So i got some good gifts also. No need for me to change tactics next year Merry christmas all and a happy new year !!! Keep brickin Quote
SweetiePie88 Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 checked around online and it turns out I should be able to return the set w/o a receipt. If I can get a full refund I'm going to return it Quote
Deathleech Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 I usually only get one or two Lego sets for Christmas and then usually a gift card or some small non-building pieces. My sister got me a few LotR/Hobbit key chains this year and a salt and pepper shaker among other things and my parents got me a Lego storage bin with some cash (last year a gift card to the Lego store and more key chains). Last year I also got 2 of the Hobbit sets from my in-laws. I generally don't expect many Lego sets for Xmas as I tend to buy them all myself as soon as they are released since I can't wait Quote
dr_spock Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 I don't ask for Lego but receive Lego nonetheless. The good thing about Lego presents is if I don't like the gift, I can part and sort it into my loose pieces collection bins. Some of it eventually ends up in a MOC. Quote
