Today my city took delivery of 2 long awaited new Fire Engines. The brief for these vehicles was they had to be compact, all-round fire & rescue pumpers, based on the standard model 60002. As the city already has a ladder vehicle, there was no need for the erectable ladder that is standard on the 60002. However: more room for tools & rescue equipment would be much appreciated and a bigger watertank was also added. In the end the city ordered 2 identical vehicles, so they could be interchangeable if the need should arise.

The two engines replace 1 vehicle, also based on 60002.

Thanks lightningtiger!

Forgot to add the bit about the building process. I had in mind to build one of these for quite some time. In the process I had already modded my 60002, but I didn't have enough of the shutters used for the equipment compartments. This week I modded my 7286, which freed up 2 of these shutters, but with a white frame (which I ended up using on the back for the compartment containing the fire hose and pump controls, see picture below). Then yesterday one of the big online shops here in the Netherlands had a nice (one day only) offer on amongst others the 60002 sets. Then I got the idea to build two identical fire engines. So for the heck of it I ordered 2 sets 60002! Just to make sure I had enough parts… ;)

The 2 new sets arrived today, so I had 3 sets 60002 to play with. The building process was a lot of fun, but I had to keep my mind on it, to make sure that ideas used on the one truck werent forgotten by the time I had to implement them on the second… They are not 100% identical, in some places I had to use 2 bricks where I had used only 1 on the other truck. Not something you will easily notice though.

There are quite a lot of parts left, so if anyone has some ideas for another Fire Engine...

Great MOD on these 60002's 'jfbat'. You have created a kind of Rosenbauer body look to these. They look so much better with the standard ladders on top than the issued turntable Ladder piece.

If you get anymore shutter then this would look really good with 2 shutters on each side IMO.

The extra storage doors are awesome, the lack of places to put tool was always my least favorite part about the fire engine sets.
