ACPin Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 [pid][/pid] 242B The whole battle scene was assembled the first time only at the show. Twenty four 32x32 green baseplates (3deep x 8wide) footprint. Redcoats battle formation Bluecoats battle formation Italians joining the party! The French are coming! Has anybody seriously considered using minifigs for wargaming? And does anybody have links for terrain boards, dioramas and large scale armies that have been done? AC Quote
Captain Becker Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 I have many many many times thought of this, but I have never actually come to any sort of "Decent layout" so to speak. This however looks great as always ACPin. Captain Becker Quote
Sebeus I Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 I thought about it as well but as I'm more interested in ships I looked into Evil Stevie's Pirate game (link), it prooved to be too complex to be practical in my opinion however . Quote
ACPin Posted December 20, 2013 Author Posted December 20, 2013 Thanks for you comments and insights! I have many many many times thought of this, but I have never actually come to any sort of "Decent layout" so to speak. This however looks great as always ACPin. Captain Becker I thought about it as well but as I'm more interested in ships I looked into Evil Stevie's Pirate game (link), it prooved to be too complex to be practical in my opinion however . i've used them a couple of times to play warhammer fantasy(we're short of miniatures but full of minifigs, so...) it's easy play with them (we've used the WH rulebook, just changed the models and bases with minifigs and lego) but i don't know if there's a "specific" rulebook for the lego. If you'll play something with square bases and complatible size models i think that it's not a problem use minifigs instead of miniatures (maybe you could check the historical wargames rulebooks ;) ) I was planning on doing on a smaller scale (2x4 large 48x48 studs or 3x6 regular 32x32 studs baseplates) for an upcoming show. Not really to be played per se, but more to have the pieces be moved so it's not a static display. It will take out some of the boredom during breaks in the show when there's no traffic plus those who come back for a second go around would get a little surprise. AC Quote
Dayton Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 I have seen people use a board with outlined hexagons on it and minifigures positioned on hexagon shape minifigure stands that fig onto the outlines on the board. Quote
ACPin Posted December 21, 2013 Author Posted December 21, 2013 I have seen people use a board with outlined hexagons on it and minifigures positioned on hexagon shape minifigure stands that fig onto the outlines on the board. Those are probably the regular gaming boards but I plan on building terrain-like diorama using Lego to accomodate the troop movements. I'll be updating this topic as the plan progresses and the Bluecoats have been added. AC Quote

ACPin Posted December 27, 2013 Author Posted December 27, 2013 Amazing armies! I like the shooting cannon Additional soldiers will have various action poses much like in the actual wargaming boards. I like the armies - and am curious to see which country will come next. Now you know who joined in. AC Quote
Scorpiox Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 May I ask why the Italian army is wearing Spanish Conquistador armour? Quote
Matteo1130 Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 but i don't know if there's a "specific" rulebook for the lego. www.brikwars.com Very funny. But me and some friend are working on a naval wargaming system... Matteo Quote
rloesberg Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Maybe you should consider giving the Italians some firepower ;-) Quote
ACPin Posted December 30, 2013 Author Posted December 30, 2013 May I ask why the Italian army is wearing Spanish Conquistador armour? I've seen pics during the same era where the Italian army used similar armor and so did the Swiss Vatican Guards. www.brikwars.com Very funny. But me and some friend are working on a naval wargaming system... Matteo Somebody on Flickr pointed that site to me. Maybe you should consider giving the Italians some firepower ;-) I probably should but I'm waiting on the LR cavalry sets to go on sale. AC Quote
