The Architect Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 First up Knights Kingdom 2 (KK2) was a pretty rubbish theme, what which the rainbow knights and their pathetic "swords", but I believe the shadow knights are a different story (just to set the record straight, when I say shadow knights I am referring to the variation in this set : http://brickset.com/detail/?Set=8875-1, King's Siege Tower). I have noticed that in the GoH forums all kinds of different races are abundant, yet in my searchs I have only ever stumbled across two MOCs that include shadow knights. So I was wondering if you GoH participants could explain why there are thousands of you who use this forum, thousands of MOCs, and why the chances of finding a MOC containing shadow knights, which Im sure some of own, are equal to the chances of finding me hiding under your front porch. Thanks. Quote
Dr.Cogg Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 (edited) I think the reason why you don't see Shadow Knights is because they all look like clones of the same guy, where as if they had looked like they were suppost to , they would have probably been used more in MOC Edited December 18, 2013 by Dr.Cogg Quote
Ecclesiastes Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 I know of a lot of torsos that aren't used in GoH. So what are you waiting for, you can use them! Side note: the reason why I don't have them myself, is because the sets were horrible, not even worth buying just for figs. Quote
Lord Vladivus Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 I'm pretty sure I've seen a couple of the Vladek breastplates used, but that's about it. Quote
LegoPanda Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 i think i sometimes have seen them used in Nocturnus mocs but i can be wrong Quote
gedren_y Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 If you're talking about this torso, then you should know it has been used for GOH, most notably as the standard torso for Damaximus' Mpya Stedor Market Guards. I've used that torso to represent a couple of them in two of my MOCs. Quote
Rogue Angel Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 I have always considered these to be Nocturnus or Kaliphlin baddies. I have about 20 or 30 of them - just haven't posted them or used them in a build yet. Quote
The Architect Posted December 18, 2013 Author Posted December 18, 2013 Ok thanks for the fast replies everyone, gedren_y, thanks Ill take a look at those, and Ill look forward to it rogueang. and Ecclesiastes, thats why bricklink is so great. Dr. Cogg thats a fair point about them not looking how their meant to, but as for all looking the same a few random heads would fix that easily. By the way Elite shadow knights, I believe they are called, have a different head, the black pawns from KK2 chess set again have a different head. Quote
mrcp6d Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 why is the earth rounded? Gravity. I have always considered these to be Nocturnus or Kaliphlin baddies. I have about 20 or 30 of them - just haven't posted them or used them in a build yet. Yeah, the scorpion theme kind of lends itself to that. Quote
Gabe Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 Sounds like you have the perfect excuse to get involved in GoH and create your own shadow knight force. But seriously, a lot of ppl here mix and match elements from a wide range of themes - i'm sure i've seen the shields pop up somewhere, certainly the helmets do (used them on my hand of corruption soldiers in my latest moc) and gedren has already referenced the torsos. Maybe the original figs haven't been used in thier entirity in GoH, but that doesn't mean that they have been forgotton. ps. i'm not sure how many GoH mocs have been posted thus far but i question the assertion that it numbers in the thousands. Certainly there aren't that many builders! Maybe a cast of thousands of minifigs? pps. Do you guys really say porch instead of veranda in NZ? Quote
The Architect Posted December 19, 2013 Author Posted December 19, 2013 Rather a cast of SigFigs No a porch is on the ground, while a veranda is somewhat overhanging or above the ground. P.S. Yes most of us do say porch though. Quote
Lord Vladivus Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 ps. i'm not sure how many GoH mocs have been posted thus far but i question the assertion that it numbers in the thousands. Certainly there aren't that many builders! Maybe a cast of thousands of minifigs? We must be getting close- there's not quite a thousand topics (rough estimate based on 21 topics per page, and 49 pages). Subtract a few for challenge threads etc, and a conservative estimate could be around 800-850 MOCs. Obviously this doesn't take into account the multiple-MOC stories. It would be quite interesting to have a list of all named figs. There's probably an awful lot of those. With regards to the Shadow Knights, I just don't own any, but I am tempted by some to add to my Shadowmere guard as an elite unit. I use the helms that they used, but I Bricklinked a lot of them. The Architect Posted December 20, 2013 Author Posted December 20, 2013 Just thinking about it, another reason I might like them so much is that when I was 7 years old I bought my first set with my own cash :D, and that set was kk2 kings siege tower, after about a year it got lost and was never found. I somehow ended up with a lone shadow knight. Im pleased to say that I still have him, even after moving country once and moving house twice so I value him over most of my other Lego. BTW is there going to be a continuation of the Story of Vladius? I think It's called that. Quote
songwm Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 (edited) Hi The Archtect, I am a fan of shadow knight too. I too have been searching for mocs that have shadow knights in it and I found this: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=301772 Enjoy! Edited December 20, 2013 by songwm Quote
Lord Vladivus Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 BTW is there going to be a continuation of the Story of Vladius? I think It's called that. There might be. I'm working on my challenge entries at the moment, but they're going to feed a couple of flashback MOCs at some point (disclaimer, I have no idea when they'll happen, it depends on if I get time). I've also want to flesh out my citadel, including all the different types of soldiers, hence the contemplation of some shadow knight torsos. Quote
The Architect Posted December 20, 2013 Author Posted December 20, 2013 Thanks songwm it really impressive isn't it! Much appreciated. Ok thanks for the info Lord Valdivus and good luck with your challenge entries. Quote
