damo Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Hi All, I'm currently living in Hong Kong (not really part of Europe LOL), was originally from australia. I was looking on the internet for some lego reviews and stumbled upon this site. I seen lots of great reviews and finally decided to join. I've been in the lego dark ages for about 20 years (im 33), so its been a long time. The way i got back into lego was through one day walking past a toys'r'us here in HK and seeing the series 11 gingerbread man minifigure that my wife pointed out (absolutely loves anything to do with gingerbread man). So i started collecting minifigures from all different places. i got the whole series 11 with only 1 double (the lab girl). From there i went on youtube where i was looking at reviews for the minifigures and stumbled on a review on a modular building. It was the pet shop and immediately i wanted it. So that was about 2 months ago. Since then i have bought the emporium, town hall, fire brigade, pet shop and the palace cinema. I've built all of them except the fire brigade because i was hoping i might keep it in the box maybe sell it one day, anyway, i also went and got all five of the winter sets because my wife and i liked them so much. So i was building madly for the last 2 months or so, when suddenly the owner of the store i buy most of my stuff from asked me if i wanted to build a few modulars. so i said sure and built an emporium so far for him. After that i put some photos on my ipad and showed some people and since then i have built all the modulars again, so you could say that i have built about 11 modular buildings recently. i really want to get the green grocer but for the price its going for, it enough to buy a whole new street of the current modulars again. i just recently also added the monster fighters haunted house and Vampyre castle to the collection. My house is quickly running out of room. But really enjoy reading the reviews on sets before i purchase and build them. Looking forward to getting the Parisian restaurant soon. Would also love to get the opera house because it reminds me of australia. Hopefully people here wont mind that i'm not from europe. but i really enjoy the reviews and forums here. Quote
dr_spock Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Welcome aboard. No worries, there are a bunch of folks from Hong Kong here. Quote
Sir_Basil_Ashton Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Hi. Welcome to Eurobricks and thanks for sharing your interesting story. The Winter Village has become an annual family building event in my home. Although I'd really like to get into the modulars, my current residence doesn't have ample space to display them properly.
