JM1971 Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 I've seen loads of cool mocs on this forum but how would one of these talented people go about getting a job from lego? For all I know it happens all the time but who better to ask than the eurobricks community. P.S. This is not for me, my mocs suck, lol Quote
dhc6twinotter Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 They have job postings on their website every now and then. I would not be surprised, though, if some people were contacted from LEGO directly. Grohl used to post here in the Technic section. He is a talented builder and did a lot of "C" model mocs. He started working for LEGO a year or two ago. From what I understand, he was turned down initialy after filing out an application, but was later contacted for the position. I believe he designed the new helicopter set. Quote
JM1971 Posted December 16, 2013 Author Posted December 16, 2013 (edited) Thats a cool set. Making B models for some sets would get you noticed? For instance alternate multipe models from the 9398 set, and scaling in difficulty so new builders could start with the easy models and move onto the full crawler when they get experienced. dhc6twinotter Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 I don't know if LEGO is looking specifically for B model type stuff, but I'm sure whatever you can put in a portfolio is beneficial. Quote
piterx Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 i think that maybe, to get noticed, one should produce models that could be sold... you know, considering costs of the pieces, considering the "kid proof" thing, considering simplicity of the model itself for example a goal that i'm trying to reach is having a clean chassis, you know, without tweaks here and there...wich usually doesnt merry the power function stuff... XD we should make a "contest" even without prizes, just like a brainstorming session... we should decide the size of the wheels we wanna use, and everyone makes his own "official set" :D Quote
GoldVillage Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Wondering if the designer/designers has the B model in mind when they finished the main model, or if its some totaly different ppl that come up with the B model. Just some curious thoughts ;) Quote

The things I've built so far are not things that LEGO would consider building. Far too expensive and complex. I plan on building some simpler mocs, similar in style to an official LEGO model. Quote

I plan on building some simpler mocs, similar in style to an official LEGO model. That's what I've decided to do with my latest MOC. All of my previous ideas have been too complicated, even for me at times, and Lego would certainly never make any of them. My F1 Sidecar for instance, started simple and ended up with 3 speed gearbox, brakes and pushrod suspension. It's also rather large. A competition like that sounds like fun though. Quote
