Commodore Ariel Brickson Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Hello everybody! My name here is Commodore Ariel Brickson; I'm a very young AFOL from Spain (I'm 18 years old only); I love Pirates-soldiers theme (for that reason I decide to make my introduction here), at least, all that I can with my humble collection (I think that it's the smallest in this forum), and my worse capacity to buy more (0). Even if I have to use bluecoat soldiers as officers (I only have 2 that a friend gave to me), consider me as a redcoat fan; at least for now. I hope that you enjoy my presence here as I enjoy stay here and see so many great creations and ships. As soon as possible, I will present my only ship (it's 100% MOC) that can be considered a warship; it's only a 12-guns brig but I love it... ...well, when I finish it again... Friendly from Spain, Commodore Ariel. Quote
Sebeus I Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Welcome at Eurobricks, At the beginning I also used bluecoats as redcoat officers, gotta use what you have . I'm looking forward to see your brig-of-war . Quote
Commodore Ariel Brickson Posted December 16, 2013 Author Posted December 16, 2013 (edited) Thanks Sebeus .As bluecoats, I use the american rebels of the minifigures series (I only have 4, but anyway, I only have 4 redcoats). The two bluecoat officers are very good to be british naval officers...Don't expect much of my poor brig; I do it with the few parts that I have in the correct colours (at least, it's simply better than my first attempt some years ago, that gave my highest officer the name of "Daltonic Admiral" ). But anyway, it's the best that I can do at the moment; and every day I improve it with some details......but still need sails ... Friendly,Commodore Ariel. kurigan Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Welcome aboard commodore! I know your struggle with brick supply all too well. I am eager to see this brig of yours as i'm always fascinated to see what methods are invented from necessity. This is a good place to hang around and pick up on new ideas and techniques. There have been quite a few MOCs come through here which serve as good examples of making what you have work. As for sails and mini-figures, you can do amazing things with just an ink jet printer. Have you considered paper sails or customizing figures from non-pirate settings? Also (just to be a little silly) is it really fair to call your self "commodore" if you only command the one brig? Commodore Ariel Brickson Posted December 17, 2013 Author Posted December 17, 2013 (edited) Thanks Kurigan . Probably the sails of my brig will be made on paper, at least by now... Also (just to be a little silly) is it really fair to call your self "commodore" if you only command the one brig? You can call it "optimism" A nickname is for all life, and if I reach the capacity of build more ships (I dream with this... I dream with a frigate, but first probably I have to be happy if I can build a second brig; but my final objective it's an small fleet with a frigate as flagship (and with the years, who knows, perhaps something bigger ). And really, I have two ships; but the other one is for "the enemy"; and it's considerably smaller and made with the remains of the brig, so I don't count it as part of my personal fleet even if it's mine . Friendly, Commodore Ariel. Edited December 17, 2013 by Commodore Ariel Brickson Quote
