Hi guys. I'm back with my latest ongoing build, an 8x8. Each axle has it's own ball-joint suspension, so the ground clearance and articulation are both very good. Independent steering on the two front axles using two M motors. Two XL motors for drive with a final ratio of 3:25. Overall a very sturdy and well-performing truck.

pretty cool man! Its coming along nicely.

My only concern is that the front set of wheels steer independently from each other. I'm not sure why you have done that, or why it would be advantageous to have them independent?

any ideas for a cab? :sweet:

Looking very robust and the gearing seems right... perhaps a servo for the front steering... i see no advantage independantly controlling the front steering like that (I suppose your intention is to connect both M motors to the same channel eventually anyway) but its just calling out for larger after market tyres... they look too far apart with standard lego ones.... (sorry purists)

Thanks. I intentionally had the front steering be independent so that i would have a greater control of movement. Also, If they were on the same channel they would get out of sync with each other very quickly since there is no physical linkage. In the video, it seemed to be a disadvantage, but that was likely because I was trying to steer, drive, and film at the same time :)

Looks good so far, and a Unimog body is always good! It looks like the springs are a bit too hard though.

Yeah for Unimogs! :)

I've done some outdoors testing, and the suspension it a tad bit stiff, but with a cap, fenders, and rear cover, I think it will end up about perfect.

And a video of some outdoors snow testing:
