marvinmalkowskijr Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 Adding this to new guy thread, are most of the train motorized or do you need to get an add on kit? Quote
Duq Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 The City trains, like the current 7938 & 7939, usually come with everything you need; track, motor, remote control. The Exclusive/ Creator Expert trains like the Emerald Night (10194), Maersk (10219) and Horizon Express (10233) do not have track or motors. There is currently an extended Horizon Express pack that includes all the PF items you need to motorise it (but still no track). Quote
dr_spock Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 Trains like Monster Fighter's Ghost Train and The Lone Ranger Constitution Train Chase do not come motorized. Constitution Train Chase comes with tracks though. Quote
marvinmalkowskijr Posted December 7, 2013 Author Posted December 7, 2013 Is there a motor kit for the Lone Ranger train set? I see a lot of the Lone Ranger stuff on sale and the train does look good. Never saw the movie myself as I am not a fan of the actors. Thanks Quote
Paperballpark Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 No, but you can just use the normal PF stuff - battery box, motor and IR Receiver. You'll need to modify the train to take them though, it's not been made to take PF Quote
dr_spock Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 There are a bunch of PF modified Constitution trains out there including one done by Hrw-Amen. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=88032 You can also find videos of PF modified Constitution trains on YouTube for different ideas. Paperballpark Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 Here's the link to how I did mine: http://www.bricksetforum.com/discussion/comment/239899/#Comment_239899 Quote
marvinmalkowskijr Posted December 9, 2013 Author Posted December 9, 2013 Thanks for all your help. I I picked Passenger Train 7938 over the weekend but I am going to get one of the set you recommended and try your motor solution after Christmas. Quote
Hrw-Amen Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 They are easy enough to modify, it all depends on how much detail you want. You can simply fit a normal train motor, battery box and IR Unit into a slightly simplified tender if you like. If you want rods, pistons and stuff it becomes a bit more fiddly but a few of us have done it and there are a few ways each as valid as the next, so just choose the one you like most. Quote
