lifirefighter Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 Hello everyone, My parents decided to sell the old house, so I went back to empty everything that had been in the attic. That is when I happened upon my old lego collection, I guess that makes me an AFOL now :-D . As it turns out so is the wife. Glad to see there some sort of community out there for people such as myself. (though I must admit I do feel out of place at the local TRU). Thanks a bunch, Long Island, NY USA Quote
CopMike Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 Hi and welcome lifirefighter to our merry community! That was a nice way, finding your old collection, to exit "the Dark Ages" - meaning coming back into LEGO :-). I hope you Quote
snefroe Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 Hello everyone, Glad to see there some sort of community out there for people such as myself. (though I must admit I do feel out of place at the local TRU). Thanks a bunch, Long Island, NY USA welcome! :-D let's see... how "out of place" do you feel when you're at the local TRU? is it so bad that you're telling the cute lady/girl behind the counter to... please wrap it in as a gift for ... your nephew? X-D Quote
lifirefighter Posted April 4, 2007 Author Posted April 4, 2007 welcome! :-D let's see... how "out of place" do you feel when you're at the local TRU? is it so bad that you're telling the cute lady/girl behind the counter to... please wrap it in as a gift for ... your nephew? X-D Ha! You got that one right. I haven't used S@H yet, but it might get to that point my local TRU has almost nothing in the way of city/town sets. Quote
Hobbes Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 Ah, another City fan I take it? Excellent *y* Welcome to this friendly community. You're fortunate to have a spouse who is into LEGO herself. My wife isn't an AFOL but she does support my hobby and knows pretty much about LEGO by now. Yet she doesn't want to sign up here and admit her addiction... Don't bother hiding your hobby at the TRU counter, women like it, they just don't admit it ;-) Enjoy the boards! Quote
Wout Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 Welcome on Eurobricks, You can training it by going everyday to the Toys'r'us. After a few days it's going be normal :-D (i hope my english is well written) Quote
Asuka Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 Hello and welcome! *y* And.... just make your own TRU.... X-D By Kevin Quote
Rayden Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 is it so bad that you're telling the cute lady/girl behind the counter to... please wrap it in as a gift for ... your nephew? X-D Almost came to that today... Yesterday I went to pick up the prisoner transport and ambulance, today I went back to pick up 2 police bikes, and it was the same girl behind the counter. She kinda looked funny.. X-D Oh, and welcome to EB, lifirefighter!! Quote
zero1312 Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 Welcome to EB, buddy! :-) And I know what you mean. I feel that way every time I'm buying Lego, no matter where! X-D Quote
Starwars4J Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 Long Island? You're kidding me! I'm from Rockville Centre :-P What about you? Quote
lifirefighter Posted April 9, 2007 Author Posted April 9, 2007 Long Island? You're kidding me! I'm from Rockville Centre :-P What about you? New Hyde Park. Lets see RVC...I think I hit up a chinese buffet there every now and again. Any recommendations as to places to buy? I've hit up both Roosevelt Field and Green Acres. Thanks--good to see a fellow Islander around! Quote

I've hit up both Roosevelt Field and Green Acres. Thanks--good to see a fellow Islander around! The Green Acres TRU has a decent number of sets...at least compared to the one across from Roosevelt Field. I mean I love the place but there's little in the way of Lego selection :-P Those are the two I usually go to when I'm shopping in a store, ever since the other one on Sunrise got shut down :-/ There's a Target near that TRU if I'm not mistaken, but generally I tend to buy things online. There aren't very many good deals around us, I'm afraid. Well, except when TRU does their 3 for 2 sale. Anyway if you ever need anything, feel free to shoot me a PM, always nice to have another Long Islander on board :-) P.S. And as for the chinese buffet (I assume you mean the large one in between Sunrise and Merrick, I've had better. RVC is known for a lot of restaurants, but I don't think there are very many good chinese ones. Quote
