Ritsz Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 (edited) Hello, As promised I would show My western layout. it is only about 20% finished so tips and comments are always welcome. I introduced myself yesterday, so if anyone is interested http://www.eurobrick...wtopic=88585= I am waiting untill the other room is ready, where I will have more space for my lego so I can make my layout's size about 2 times as bigg. You'll see I like to keep the sets original, at least one of each, and the extra stuff that I make, I try to keep the same style. Here are the first pictures, the total layout This is where it starts, border entering Texas Indian village, as you can see I still miss set 6748 BoulderCliff Canyon A train bridge that I am trying to make with the parts I have at the moment, and a hanging bridge. They will be used in the "Gran Canyon" A second, smaller fort that I've made, and will be used as a prison A small Farm/Ranch, Not yet finished Bandits Secret Hideout Sheriff got the Wanted Sign Guy (don't know the name) Cavalry Army (will be much bigger when I'm done) The Town, Still a lot work to be done And offcourse the Legoredo Fort Thats about it. When I compaire this to other Moc's / layouts, I know this is all very simple. But he, just starting.. I hope you all like it so far, as you can see I'll be bussy for quite a while. But I think I'll enjoy every moment. Greetings Ritsz Edited November 27, 2013 by Ritsz Quote
Alfadas Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Looks nice! Will you upload pics when finished? It looks amazing for only 20% finished. I assume there will be some more details, but it is fairly detailed now, good work! Quote
Ritsz Posted November 24, 2013 Author Posted November 24, 2013 Thanks! Yes I'll definitely upload some pics when finished. Also when some new things are added I'll post a pic. I cant upload for every little thing though, cause I don't want to disrespect the other members by keeping my topic on top, especially as being new here. I am planning first to make the layout as big as I want it to be and keep it just basic, and from then on making it as detailed as possible. But that will take really long I think, several years.. Pizzareno Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Hey I really like your train bridge and hanging bridge. They look fantastic. I was just wondering with your wagon ruts wouldn't they merge into one once they are going straight after rounding the corner? Anyway looks great. Keen to follow your progress. Quote
timmyc1983 Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Wow I really like your layout so far! I always wanted the western sets as a kid but went into my dark ages before I could get them. Fantastic start to your layout and my favourite bit is the bridges. Will you be adding any of the Lone Ranger sets to your town? Or MOCing your own train? Happy building Quote
Ritsz Posted November 25, 2013 Author Posted November 25, 2013 @Pizzareno, I think your right about the wagon ruts. I'll have to change that. Thanks for the advice! @timmyc1983, Thanks, and at the moment I'm not adding any Lone Ranger sets because I like the old Western style better. Maybe later on if I make a second town or so, but don't know yet. The train is something that is on my mind to do, but it wil be at the end. I want to get more experienced first in building, because I think a train is really difficult to build. Quote
Mutant Orc Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 I'm useless for making my own trains but I got the Lone Ranger one twice (I found a good deal) and had the second one changed into the Jupiter. Your collection is large and quite impressive- I wish I had them!! Quote
Ritsz Posted November 25, 2013 Author Posted November 25, 2013 (edited) thanks. And thats a good idea to change an existing train. I've made some pictures of a order that I received last friday. And some of a order that came in today. Last friday. I had already sorted everything out as you can see. And the one came in today. Still waiting for many orders to come Edited November 27, 2013 by Ritsz Quote
Alfadas Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 I think there is a problem with the pics, I clicked the link and got the message that "this file is not yet public". Can you change it or is there something wrong with my laptop?? Quote
Ritsz Posted November 26, 2013 Author Posted November 26, 2013 I'm sorry, I don't know whats wrong.. I posted the last post with the orders, and suddenly the pics of the starting post also doesn't work.. Does anybody know whats wrong? Quote
TJJohn12 Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 Does anybody know whats wrong? You should try deep linking the photos instead. Brickshelf folders need to be hand-moderated after you make *any* change in content. Quote

Ritsz Posted November 29, 2013 Author Posted November 29, 2013 Just received some new orders today. 6 indians and a 2845 set (for the indian in it). And some extra bricks for the Gran Canyon I'm planning on making. And a big order with tan baseplates, lots of Cavalry and Indian torso's and legs, bandanas and hairpieces and other little stuff. My Cavalry army and Indian army is getting bigger and bigger. Quote
Captain Settle Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 Wow, that is a lot of western LEGO! The bandit is called Flatfoot Thompson by the way. Quote
JoashColbat Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 That's MASSIVE. Can't wait to see the finished product Quote
gazumpty Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 I really like where this project is heading, it has an amazing array of characters and buildings already. My wee bit of advice would be to try sculpting some of the landscape to lose the flat plate feel of it. There are loads of MOC's on here that sculpt rock and sand really well, whilst adding landsape details such as rocks and trees or shrubs. I think this would really bring this MOC to life. Quote
jodawill Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 How were you able to buy so many of those road baseplates? I'm so jealous! I only have two of them and I'm also working on a huge Wild West display. They're really expensive on Bricklink. Did you pay a lot for them? Quote

There are loads of MOC's on here that sculpt rock and sand really well, whilst adding landsape details such as rocks and trees or shrubs. I think this would really bring this MOC to life. Thanks for the advice! I was planning on doing that later on. First thing I want to do is to have everything placed on the right spot. After that I'll start working on the details. For sculpting the landscape I'll need a lot of plates wich I dont have right now. I'll definitely do that later on when I got the money for it. How were you able to buy so many of those road baseplates? I'm so jealous! I only have two of them and I'm also working on a huge Wild West display. They're really expensive on Bricklink. Did you pay a lot for them? Hello, I have 4 x Bandits secret hideout, and then I had to search really hard for those baseplates. 3 of 4 I bought separately and the rest I think 10 of them in one go. I contacted a guy who could get them for 7,50 euro, but he also had a hard time finding them. I dont mind helping you to find them if you want... How many do you need? Quote
Ritsz Posted December 17, 2013 Author Posted December 17, 2013 Hello, Here are some new orders. More cavalry, and a few Indian torsos-leggs. Also 6799 Showdown Canyon and 6748 Boulder Cliff Canyon (don't have a pic). Now I have all the Western sets! Dark tan BURP's and some extra pieces. What do you guys think of the rock wall? Its suppose to look a bit like the Gran Canyon... And this is the idea for the hanging bridge. (the grey rock's are just temporarily there to support the bridge) Quote
KotZ Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 That's a great layout you've got there! It definitely looks more realistic witht the update. I approve of the cliff, looks pretty realistic to me, especially with the changing shades. Can't wait to see more! Quote
malolau Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 hellooo a real good begining !! great layout to come !! I like your bridge ! @malolau http://malolau-reef.space-blogs.net/ http://www.youtube.com/user/malolau http://www.flickr.co...s/97480742@N08/ Quote

I approve of the cliff, looks pretty realistic to me, especially with the changing shades. Can't wait to see more! Thanks! The cliff will be all in that changing shades style, but above the cliff I'll make it all with the old grey rocks to match the style of the Western sets. hellooo a real good begining !! great layout to come !! But still could learn a lot from your layouts, I really like how detailed yours are! It keeps getting better and better! Great walls, and how many cavalry soldiers do you have now? I got exactly 100 Cavalry Soldiers and around 50 Indians (have to count them). But I think you can never have enough of both haha Quote
Alfadas Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Indeed, totally true! 100 cavalry vs 50 indians, great armies. I wish I had some western sets, I only got this small set: http://brickset.com/detail/?Set=6791-1 Quote
