Or simply replace pieces if buggy motors are compatible with PF parts.

You won't get that kind of performance out of the existing PF motors.

Every motor is compatible with PF thanks to this little item available since 2007:

However, the RC motors' particularly large power consumption means they won't run at full power off the PF power supplies.

I found that the V1 PF receiver does NOT work well with RC motors. V2 however works great....
