Legogal Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 This morning the Wall Street Journal US version has an article about the competitions held in Billund for hiring LEGO designers. An interesting read…. http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB10001424052702303460004579193901642418812?KEYWORDS=lego Quote
WhiteFang Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 Thank you so much, Gray for sharing this news article from WSJ. It is an interesting read especially to understand the 'interview' workshop process! It give a pretty good insight into the corporate culture. Quote
WaysofSorting Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 (edited) And a well-placed/timely article before the Holiday buying season. A good read, for certain, thanks. edit - Also wanted to say I enjoyed that they informed the applicants to the "practicalities of relocating to Billund." And that they hired a large percentage of the pool, in my mind - Edited November 14, 2013 by WaysofSorting Quote

Aanchir Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 Interesting article. I can't say I feel a whole lot better after reading it, since I'm currently having a hard enough time searching for a part-time retail job and it hurts a bit to get another reminder that I'm probably never going to be cut out for what had been my dream job for many years. The thing about getting a design job with LEGO, as with any job, is that it's not enough to be a good candidate. There's no shortage of those, and I'm sure you don't even get to this stage of applying unless you're a good candidate. To get a job you have to be the best candidate, or one of the best. While I've done all right with LEGO building competitions in the past, I'm sure I'd have a more difficult time with this kind of competition, if only because there'd be so much more riding on my success. In the meantime, I hope the eight new designers that this article mentions go on to design some amazing sets. Quote
